It’s nice looking even though the outside looks like wood but it’s not. My cats are passionate about their rectangular scratchers but won’t use this. I made a heavy investment by also buying replacement fillers. The joke is on me. I’ve sprayed catnip on it multiple times and they come over to sniff and do a trial scratch but no more than than that. I now have a beautiful piece of sculpture.

First off, the double Necoichi bowl does not come in extra large. My cats are15 pounds each and my Ragdoll. Is a long cat. The reviews on the single bowl have been fantastic and it seems most cats love it. I bought the new double bowl thinking both cats wouldn’t have to fight over it. Neither one has tried to even set a foot on it. I have put it in different locations, next to windows, next to furniture. They will not try it out. I thought of picking the cats up and setting them on it, but my experience is doing this doesn’t work, even with beds. They hop right out. I am very disappointed because this was a fairly expensive purchase and it sits in a corner next to our bedroom window as an unused piece of cat furniture. My suggestion for these cat bed companies is to consider larger cats and offer larger pieces of furniture and bedding. It was difficult rating this because they haven’t tried it out. I will say it was easily assembled and seems prey sturdy. Waste of money for me. I am writing an update to give the Necoichi bowl 4 stars After discovering that Simon would go in the bottom level after I added some dry catnip flakes. He has slept in I three times now but prefers sleeping on the floor next to it. My main concern is that it is not large enough for large breed cats like Ragdolls and Maine Coons. He does not like the top level.

There are some things that are really great about this - the fact that you can replace the interior bowl insert is the best. I was a little disappointed that the exterior wasnt more attractive and a bit sturdier. After reading the description more carefully, I can see that it doesnt say it has a wood veneer exterior, but I had thought that it did have a bamboo veneer. Instead its just a fake wood pattern pasted onto a thick cardboard, and the edge is all dinged and scuffed, and it looks much cheaper and fake than in the pictures. I was happy to pay 30-ish$ for a permanent wooden bowl with replaceable inserts, but less so to pay so much for something much more easily damaged and more likely to require replacement itself. Im saving it for a christmas present, so I havent given it to my fellow yet, but Im sure it wont matter to him, hell love it anyway!

Purchased this as I prepared for my adopted my cat. At the same time, I bought a plush bed from another retail store. Kitty took to laying in this right away and had zero interested in the other bed, so the bowl gets major points for that. Ive noticed shes finally started doing some scratching on it when she goes to lie down, but Im not sure yet if this can actually replace the need for a scratching post. The cardboard interior seems to be holding up well so far, and its a nice construction. On the downside, for the premium I paid for this product, I figured that the outer rim was a layer of actual wood. Instead its a thin layer of paper - doesnt feel that different than wrapping paper. I dont have high hopes that itll last long term, especially if the cat gets a few scratches outside of the rim. All in all, I feel pretty good about the purchase, but maybe a little misled about the construction of the product. Update: 4/11/18 - Sadly my cat has stopped using the bowl as either a bed or a scratching surface as of a few months ago. Im not certain what triggered the change. Im going to try a cleaning session and see if it brings back her interest. Also, if you ever take the main bowl portion out to clean, be sure you dont push and separate it too much. It didnt take much before I realized this is made of a very dense spiral of cardboard, and getting it to come back together properly was a nightmare!

Recently moved to a new place with hardwood floors. My cat began scratching my furniture since the move so I bought this item in hopes that she would scratch this instead. It didnt work initially, the cat was more interested in the box it came in. After adding cat nip to the bowl my cat became addicted to it. She scratches and lounges in the bowl all the time. I also like the wood grain design. It blends in easily with the rest of the decor. This was a great purchase as it looks great, my cat loves it, and the bowl prevents my furniture from being destroyed.

Purchased this because the cats love the single bowl they already had. They really like the highest level right at the window for airy bird watching. Only small comment is if your cat gets the zoomies they may knock this down since it is not weighted at the bottom, just dont put it next to anything breakable or a place where your cats could get hurt if they kick it over and fall. Pretty funny to watch them do it, actually. They really do like these products, it is not uncommon to see all three cats in their three bowls. They are also very nice looking.

I own 3 of these beds and they are all used everyday by my cats. My cats use them as scratchers, as a place to hang out and as a place to sleep! The cat in the first picture is about 12 pounds and the cat in the second picture is about 18 pounds. The third picture is of the supports for the cardboard bowl. I have attached this photo for those who wondered if you could remove the cardboard bowl and use a blanket. Highly recommended by my 6 cats!

The interior part came apart , when I slightly touched it. Unfortunately my cat didn’t get a chance to use this a long time . However I like that it is earth friendly and that a pillow can be placed inside it ( I had a hard time finding the pillow that is advertised on the label of the bowl, so I never got a chance to buy it while my pet was still here alive on earth ) .

I had found the smaller one at a discount retailer, which worked well for my smaller cat. But my larger cat tried to squeeze into it. I felt so bad for him so I bought the larger one for him. He loves it! Very well made and I like that the company offers refills.

Excellent cat scratcher and super easy to assemble! Kitties take turns being in the top or bottom bowls, with lots of shenanigans in between. They really enjoy the contours, which suit the furbies well enough to nap in. Well designed, sturdy and aesthetically quite nice for corrugate construction. Quality item - very pleased and pawsitively endorsed by the most discerning of critics - two rambunctious tabbies!
