Its fun for a couple of hours, then gets repetitive

Okay, its likely a lot of fun for anybody under the age of 12. Otherwise, steer clear.

Graphics are pretty. Several of the mini-games provided some short-lived fun because - theyre mini games! We quickly lost interest in the board games because they were balanced too much towards luck and too little towards skill. There are very limited places where you can make decisions and take chances that affect your rank in the game. At the end, a randomizer just gives out stars and selects a random winner. The mini-games dont stand on their own for long. There isnt any challenge or drive to do more and see more. I would have liked it to be more of a friendly competition where there was enough control of your outcome where winning actually mattered. We ended up not caring who was ahead or behind during the game. We ended up not caring who won. It didnt matter whether you bested or defeated an NPC. The game play and outcome were as exciting as four people trying to draw the highest card from a deck and playing war without shuffling. Compared to Mario Kart - sure... random items occasionally scramble the rankings, but theres a chance for a good player to keep themselves near the top. Mario Party is where youre given a random kart and character in each race and every power-up is either a Bullet Bill or blue shell.

Lots of mini games and so far, always something different though expect to start seeing the same once Im through all the boards.... But nice game to pick up and play with family.
