Greater than one weekI used this fan (Noctua NF-R8 redux-1800) to quiet down my aftermarket T-Mobile Gateway Trashcan Lid. It required a 3-pin to USB adapter, but works great under 5v power. I am incredibly impressed with how quiet the fan is in this application. Yes, fan speed is reduced, but I don’t need all that much airflow. I just want to provide a bit of active assist without adding to the ambient noise, otherwise. This fan does that, while promising long life, to boot. That’s a huge win/win for me!

> 3 dayBuild quality is excellent but that is expected, This is the 3rd Noctua fan and the 5th item (2 cpu coolers) I have purchased from them, never had any issues. Air flow is good, not noisy (didnt add to the noise from my 290x lol). Excellent product, I will definitely recommend it.

> 3 dayI meant to order the 120mm fan and install as an exhaust fan on the top of case. When i got the fan i realized i had ordered the smaller fan. Ooops, my fault. My original intention was to replace the old Cooler Master 120 at the top of the case. So instead i just added this fan to the top of the case next to the Cooler Master. So now i had 2 fans at the top of case - a 120 and an 80. There is a 120 at the bottom of the case and 2 120s at the front of case and a 120 on the an artic cpu cooler at the back of case. The noise level went up a bit with this fan. It really cranks out air for a little fan. I attached it to the case fan pins. I left the computer running for a couple of hours and when i came back it was locked up. It would not restart. I had to power down by holding the power button down. Even after doing this it would not reboot. I let the computer sit for about an hour and came back and tried again. It came up with the Windows screen asking if i want to repair the OS. I just chose to reboot and the computer came up fine. What happened here? Well the only thing i changed was this little fan. It is hard for me to believe that this little fan caused this but i suppose it could have been sucking so much air out of the case that it created some type of vacuum that the system overheated and shut down. In any case, i detached the fan and everything seems fine. I ordered myself the correct 120 fan from Noctua and will follow my original plan. This fan spins a lot faster than the 120s and does generate more noise. Maybe this was a case of too much of a good thing!

> 3 dayNice, quiet fan. Was a perfect retrofit for my Monoprice 300w amp, which is not 80% quieter.

> 3 dayExtremely low noise level, good price, premium materials. Noctua is my choice whenever possible.

> 3 dayGreat fans. A lot quieter than most other 80mm fans. IT is both quiet and can really pull air our of the pc case. Noctua is the best

> 3 dayMuch better than what I had in my PC case already!

> 3 dayIm rarely surprised by the quality of PC components like case fans, but these Noctua 80mm jobbers are simply outstanding. Build quality is through the roof and, far and away, the best I have ever laid my grubby hands on. They feel good in the hand, have noticeably more heft and literally ooze quality at every opportunity. The plastic feels denser and more rigid, the fan blades are better made and better shaped, tolerances are tighter and, heck, they even jacketed (not cheaply either, but a nice braided cover) the 3-wire pigtail all the way from the enclosure to the connector. Never before have I seen such attention to detail or this type of commitment to quality construction. Simply a fantastic unit and definitely worth the price. I would gladly pay double the going rate to get my hands on more of these, and this is coming from someone who just bought three of them (replaced both exhaust fans and squirreled away the third as a spare).
