Great idea. I use my Petzl all the time for tasks around the house as well as my forays into the woods. With this device, though, Ive discovered much more functionality. I cant wait to use it on my next camping trip in April.

Mostly bought it to store my Taktic 450 and for use as a lantern. It exceeded my expectations. Its actually really bright and lightweight. My kids love using it too. I like the strap it cam with. Proved it in caving. Didnt let me down and kept my light clean from mud.

I bought this for use in my tent in order to turn my headlamp into a lantern. What I did not expect was that, when my headlamp was packed in this housing, it could not be accidentally turned on by in my pack.

Keeps my light from getting switch on in my bag and makes a great external lamp for sleeping space.

Love it. It makes my Petzel headlamp into a teeny tiny lantern. It has an elastic strap that you can put around a tent pole or whatever.

I havent tried it yet in the mountain, but as far as I tried at home, this lamp case reflects the light in perfect way, so you can use for Petzl flashlight as a camping lamp. and its a Petzl original product, so quality is assured. update: used it in the top of a volcano I hiked during the night,m it was awesome to see the regular petzl flashlight becomes a lamp. 2 thumbs up!!

This multi-functional case not only protects your headlamp but it can become a mini-hanging lantern. Case is sturdy and you can turn lamp on and off when the case is closed.

This is very handy for making more diffuse lighting to fill a tent or cover a picnic table or area at a campsite. It is a bit bulky if you are trying to minimize volume in your pack, but when you store your headlamp plus some spare batteries in there, then it isnt so much extra space. (Even without spares it might be good to take your batteries out since Petzls dont have a power switch lock and might get turned on by accident.) And I like the flexible dome that lets you squeeze it to change the light settings or turn on/off without having to open the case. I use this with a Zipka headlamp, which doesnt have the thick strap, so it sits lower in this case. But it still works to create a nice broad diffuse and even lighting for an area.
