Protectli Vault FW4B - 4 Port, Firewall Micro Appliance/Mini PC - Intel Quad Core, AES-NI, 8GB RAM, 120GB mSATA SSD

> 3 dayMy Protectli Vault FW4B has its mSata screws locktight/glued from the factory. This makes zero sense considering you have to install your own storage. The screws used are very low quality and strip immediately. Buyer be warned.

14-01-2025Running OPNsense on this and it works great. I love that the ports are already labeled like a router. Install of OPNsense was easy and worked first try. It gets a bit warm but not horribly so, just dont set anything on top of it. Small price to pay to not have a fan.

Greater than one weekZero issues loading and running OPNSense. No loss of throughput with Suricata and various services enabled and CPU stays under 30%. I am happy with my choice.

> 3 dayLove this little device. Tends to run pfsense on idle a little warm 50°C,so I suggest buying a small quiet usb powered fan. Maybe have a small unit installed on future models?

> 3 dayDoes all I want it to do. openvpn lets encrypt hardware encryption. Runs very warm but it seems to be no big deal. If it bothers you slap a cheap quiet fan on top of the heat sink and call it a day. Will run cool in my experience. Your mileage may vary.

> 3 dayUntangle 14.1.1 works flawlessly. Solid performance from the quad core Celeron, the ram and SSD. In the barbone version they say you should know how to install, but dont make any mention of which set of screws to remove to Best access the board. Even under load the aluminum heatsink keeps this unit cool.
