> 3 daySo far the system has been running without any issues except that the cooling sink get hot fairly quick to the touch. The normal temperature in the house does not seem enough to cool it an ambient temp without a forcing air through the fins.. I had to add a cooling fan on top of the sink to keep it cool to the touch. Another point to make to take in consideration is the price. I would get it for under $300 if I would go directly to Protectli instead.

> 3 dayZero issues loading and running OPNSense. No loss of throughput with Suricata and various services enabled and CPU stays under 30%. I am happy with my choice.

> 3 dayHad a Ubiquiti USG-3 prior to getting this device. My USG would run at 100% CPU and ping response time would get up north of 1500MS when running a VPN tunnel through the firewall. I installed PfSense on The Vault and ran the same tests. This firewall runs at 6% CPU MAX when running the same tests. So far I am very pleased with the performance. Will update as I turn more features on.

> 3 dayI have purchased 3 of these for myself or for friends. They are great boxes that are available in multiple configurations to fit your needs. The only way to go when looking for a pfsense box.

> 3 dayEasy to install and operate with pfsense community edition. Just downloaded an image file and I was up and running. pfsense comes with a version of Free BSD as an operating system as this system is bare bones. You need to understand what you are doing. That being said, I was up and running in less than an hour with really packet packet moving This replaced my problematic Netgate 3100, also with pfsense. The Celeron, 8 gigs of RAM and 120 gigs of space makes it a really fast mover for streaming. I use for two separate networks in my house and that was a breeze to set up. There is room for one more completely segmented network. I use IPv6 routing and it works like a champ. Highly recommended for a bare bones system for pfsense fir walling.

Greater than one weekGot this to protect a 1U server in colo. 100Mbps symmetrical on the WAN and a few VLANs to route. CPU performance is OK for the wattage but cant touch a bigger box for VPN or IDS/IPS performance. Its perfect for what I need though.

15-01-2025This is an incredible little firewall appliance! While a bit cumbersome to configure with pfsense there are really good guides and documentation available. I would strongly recommend the pfsense guide by NetworkChuck on YouTube for initial configuration.

> 3 dayBought to run Pfsense and discoveries that its only possible to push about 100mbit as an OpenVpn client using 256 encryption. Its perfectly fine as a router as long as youre not interested in using the router as a VPN client as well. I wish the marketing and the Amazon descr6 was more forthcoming about the expected throughput of this device and I would have just purchased a more powerful unit.
