QuickBooks gives the small business owner essentially enterprise-level solutions at a fair price. Accounting is inherently difficult for most of us (me included!), and will remain my least favorite task. It does and will continue to consume hours of my time each week-especially when unusual situations come up. But the difficulties are inherent in the problem, and QuickBooks makes this as painless as it is ever going to get. For two years I ran my business using more of an account-oriented software package. It required that I speak double-entry bookkeeping as a fluent second language. QuickBooks, by contrast, shields you from most of the drudgery. You can drill down to look at the bare ledgers if you want to, but most of the time you can just work with your friendly old checkbook register. I reckon that it takes me about half the time to run the books for my $2 Million company, which saves me maybe a day a week. So why not five stars? Intuits marketing policies really are intrusive. Youll get a lot of pop-ups as you go through your daily tasks, shaking you down to buy other Intuit products. Mercifully, I have seldom had to use their customer service. Overall I have satisfied with the product, and grateful for the time it saves me, and I think it is sold at a fair price.

Need it be said again... Quickbooks continues to dominate. A full-featured accounting system with intuitive functionality and amazing flexibility at an affordable price from a caring company. Hmmm. How do the others keep their market share?

I just started up a new business, QuickBooks has been a lifesaver. The instructions are very easy to understand and easy to use. Doing my book work is almost fun with QuickBooks.

Intuit has shut down my payroll calculating and tax form prep functions. How can they do this? You must purchase Intuits expensive payroll subscription for the software to work as advertised. My five month old software no longer does payroll. I have entered the current tax rates and all should be well but...Intuit demands that I manually enter every single deduction on every single check. Isnt that great?

Like many Intuit Products, this is full of bugs. High priced Customer support plans promise 10 minute max wait time. The wait time is never under 2 hours. The support personnel are off shore and ill equipped to deal with many questions. You can request a call back from an American Tech which is supposed to occur within 4 hours but too often never takes place.

This is probably one of the best examples of the worst kind of company! They got where they are because they gave small business an accounting program, and in return, small businesses gave their loyalty and their dollars, and now Intuit abuses those same customers by forcing upgrades they dont need and often cant afford in light of the skyrocking cost increases. The real kicker is, if you dont upgrade, they TAKE AWAY PROGRAM FUNCTIONALITY from the version youve already bought and paid for(tax tables, email capabilities, to name two). I despise this company and their product, and after 14 yrs., weve bent over enough and were DONE! They expect our 5 person company to upgrade to the next version, which would require an upgrade of our operating systems in order to be compatible, PLUS the cost of another payroll subscription , costing us hundreds and hundreds of dollars we cant afford and dont need to spend! Ive already found a shareware program that will restore the function that allows for emailing invoices to customers (STOLEN by Intuit when we didnt upgrade) and am currently searching for some way to import a tax table (also STOLEN by Intuit when we didnt upgrade). If I can find that, we can keep the version were using for years as it suits our needs just fine. We should have the right to make that decision and not have it result in the crippling of a program weve already bought. Intuit makes Microsoft look like warm, fuzzy teddy bears, and I think its time we all get together and raise a big enough fuss that their business practices will finally come under the same kind of scrutiny Microsoft has been subject to for years. I dare say wed see some changes.....at the very least, an end to the theft of our property!!

I bought this software at the recommendation of my accountant. Well, after trying to use it for two years now, Im ready to burn it. Its a great software for people who do their business by the projects, but its not good for retail sales. Everything has been a hassel, especially trying to set up the daily sales so I can record detailed inventory of my daily sales. Yes, I noticed they did come out w/a new version for specifically for retail sales. After I already invested in $300 in software and $100 in books just trying to learn this system. What a waste!

Quick Books Pro is a good value for its cost. It is far superior to Quick Books especially its cost accounting ability. Unfortunately many users dont take full advantage of its features. Not only does the cost accounting provide valuable information, in service oriented business the use of the time card and allocation of employees time to various jobs gives a truer cost of a project than estimates. I really recommend this package if you are a small business.
