Rio Grande Games Dominion Adventures Game Gold

Let me begin by saying I own all the sets and most of the Promo Cards. I am a huge Dominion fan and avid player for five years now. This ninth expansion set is the best and worst of Dominion in one box. I do NOT recommend it be the first one you buy (try Seaside or Prosperity instead, then Dark Ages or Hinterlands). I say that because some of these cards are quite complicated and fiddly with a fair number of annoying new rules to remember. Thats true of any expansion, but seems to be amplified here.

Fun new expansions for Dominion are always welcome. This one is just as fun as the others, bringing back duration cards and a more extensive upgrade mechanic. However, this expansion includes lots of tiny pieces (more than just coins and mats), that are only used for specific cards. I feel like the designers could have tried harder to incorporate fewer pieces among a broader range of the new cards.

I had the original game when i got married. Got this as a gift for my wife and now we play it all th he time.

Great game addition but really poorly made. Contents dont fit in the box. Cheap, poor coloring on mats.

Okay, so technically you should have the original Dominion before buying ANY of the expansions, but between Dominion, Dominion: Seaside, and Dominion: Adventures, this has been by far the most complicated/confusing game to play. This expansion introduces Event cards (let you buy something other than a card), Reserve cards (to pick up and play again later), as well as a set of cards that can be upgraded for coins + the cards predecessor. Unfortunately, so far, my husband and I havent found a set of cards to play with (even out of those recommended by Rio Grande) that makes the game feel balanced. Some of the cards are so powerful that if both/all players are not able to buy them near the same time, there is no catching up. Save this expansion for last.

Takes an already great game to the next level. One of my favorite expansions.

Does Adventures add anything worthwhile to Dominion? Is the artwork less goofy than some of the Guilds cards? Can this be enjoyed by newbies to the game?

My husband and I are Dominion fans! We have most of the expansions now! We really like the addition of the events and some of the cards in this are fun and new! Like the Page and Peasant with their upgrades!
