SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable External SSD - Up to 550MB/s - USB-C, USB 3.1 - SDSSDE60-2T00-G25

I ordered this as a gift for my daughter in March of this year (5 months ago). She decided to save it for the start of school and so we just opened it this week. She tried to add some school projects (and music) etc to it and it filled up almost immediately. We checked the properties to see what gives and although this is supposed to be a 500GB drive it only shows a capacity of 349 MB. Note that is MB..not GB. I have trusted SanDisk quality for years but I am sorely disappointed and I guess I will have to find another brand to use - any suggestions? Word to the wise - The Amazon window is short for returns - I wonder how many other people get stuck with DOA Amazon products. Looks like they may be selling seconds or blems rather than first quality products. My daughter and I feel severely ripped off.

I like the size and durability. I use it for backing up files and also running files for video editing.

Turned my computer on as usual and everything either very slow or not working at all. I eventually unplugged the Sandisk SSD after trying everything else I could think of and it started working properly. Tried connecting it again this morning and it doesnt seem to be recognised. Very disappointing from a reputable name. Fortunately I dont think I had stored anything on it that wasnt recoverable anywhere else. EDIT - I continued to look for solutions after I posted the above and found that the SSD worked perfectly with a different (cheap) USB lead so it was the original high grade USB lead that was the problem. Im happy to withdraw my poor rating and give 5 stars as the drive has worked flawlessly for 15 months.

Brilliant product from Sandisk, bought a couple now. I use one of mine as an external boot drive for Mac OS on my older 2013 iMac, as well the usual file transfer etc. They just work, and work very well.
