Everything But Stromboli (TM) Combo Reader doesnt work

I don’t know whether it was the card or the reader, but I used it in my camera and then put the card in the reader and imported into Lightroom. Everything went fine. But when I transferred a few files onto the card and popped it into another laptop, it told me the card needed to be formatted before use. I tried it again in the first laptop- same thing. I tried just the card in the built-in card reader in the other laptop - same thing. Now, I don’t trust this card or reader at all. Edit: I did a read/write test and got horrible numbers. 16 mb/s on one laptop; 20 mb/s on another. Must be fake cards.

Never had an extreme pro failure. Even after dropping.
