This drain is the only way to go if building a shower using a topical membrane system. I set it in a base of deck mud and used redgard as a waterproofer. Easy enough for a first-timer.

This is my second install of the Kerdi Shower system and this Kerdi Drain. I really like the fact that the water seal is on top of the shower pan thereby eliminating a substantial source of mold in the shower. This system assures that the only moisture storage is confined to the tile and grout and not a deep bed of porous cement as in traditional shower pans. It is also very easy to install with or without access to the drainpipe from below. The square shape of the drain cover makes cutting the floor tile easier than a circular one.

Great drain kit! Saved me time for the same price as each component individually, and it was easy to do!

Great product . Works as intended with proper installation . Looks 100 times better than the cheap standard drains .
