I own a media company and have bought several cameras for our video shoots. Recently I purchased both a Sony a7sIII, and a Sony a1. Since these cameras both used a different memory card from our other Sony a7rIV cameras, I wasnt aware that the ads saying they used CFExpress cards that there were different types of CFExpress cards. The cameras didnt arrive until after the cards. By the time I opened the first one and figured out it was the wrong type of CFExpress card (Type C instead of Type B), it was one day past Amazons return date. So, Im stuck with around $1,400 in memory cards I cant use. Thanks Amazon!

I love this card! I was in an intense photoshoot day where I should many thousand images (Tet 2021!). This card allows the full speed of the Canon EOS R5. The buffering capacity of the R5 isnt that big (youll notice if you use SD cards which quickly fill the buffer). However, the CFExpress Type B cards are so fast that the images write down so fast that you will never run out of buffer no matter how long you hold the shutter button. If you are copying images off the CFExpress card to your computers SSD, itll only take a couple minutes to dump all 128 GB of images and videos. And then that card is ready to go back in action! At first I thought I would have 1, maybe 2 CFExpress cards and then a bunch of fast SD cards. However, the CFExpress is so fast that it is a joy to keep shooting. if you are constantly running around having to cover a major event, the Sony card will be an amazing partner. Now, I gave the card a 3/5 score in value. And thats because on my Xbox Series X, it has a Seagate expansion card that is only slightly bigger but its faster and much cheaper (1 TB is $220). I know. Different product category. However, the underlying technology is still the same (solid state drive).

I have more confidence in the Sony Tough than my ProGrade / ANGELBIRD / SanDisk / Lexar media. Have never had any problems. But it is expensive. This is what you use when you dont have the luxury of re-shooting or you are shooting high framerate photos or 4k video etc. IMO you cant buy better media - but you can buy cheaper and in some cases the cheaper is fine.

I recently purchased a used Nikon Z7 where recent software upgrades allow you to use Cfexpress cards. This card is blazingly fast and built like a tank. I am very happy with this purchase. The only downside is these cards are expensive, but from what I read their failure rate is extremely low compared to other memory card formats.

I used it for my R5 EOS and its teh one that can handle the speed needed for 8K.
