> 24 hourOh man, I love this thing. Its ridiculously loud and has lots of options with various siren tones, the horn, and the radio repeat. There is a lot of empty space in the case, and could definitely be smaller and easier to mount than it is. I elected to stick it under my seat. Do yourself a favor and do a couple of light coats of black spray paint on the speaker before you put it behind your grill. Also, the instructions are pretty vague, in particular how to hook up the horn relay and radio audio input. I have one of the horn relay wires wired up to see ground, and havent figured out the radio audio part.

> 24 hourDecent for the money. People know when your coming. Which is a huge plus. Mic is a bit cheap feeling/look. Works as it should.

> 24 hourFor anyone that is looking around the market for a new unit, this is the one. I was skeptical at first, but when it showed up, it was built well with quality parts. Once I got it installed, it surpassed my expectations. The siren unit is very loud and you have a good range of different siren sounds. My only drawback is the PA mic. The handheld mic is built with cheap feeling plastic. Aside from that, it’s awesome! You have a vast range of noise. It ranges from very quiet to extremely loud. It’s exactly what you need!

> 24 hourOnly have had it installed for 1 day. So Ill update this review in a couple months. Or sooner if it breaks. But so far it is excellent for the price. Its loud for sure (grey speaker). Its definitely not as loud as a professional grade yet those are over $500 so this is a clear you get what you pay for. Its a great toy. I got it just for the horn tone.

> 24 hourThis is a serious PA system. I dont have prior experience to compare it to, but the speaker itself is very heavy-duty and the instructions assume you know how to do automotive mounting and wiring. I knew nothing going into this project and it took me all day to install on my own with google/youtube. The speaker is so heavy, you really need to find a solid place to mount it. I ended up putting it inside the bumper of my F150 just behind the panel that holds the license plate. One thing that disappointed me was the lack of installation hardware. I ended up buying a new 1/4 drill bit to get through the metal (cobalt coated or something). I also had to go to Home Depot and buy 1/4 inch bolts, washers and nuts. I did all 4 mounting points because of the speaker weight. Wiring wasnt too hard, and Ive never done anything like this before, but I only did the basics and will find the stereo wiring later. It is LOUD! The honk, siren and voice projection are awesome. Im very pleased.

> 24 hourProduct from time of order to arrival was 12 hrs…woke up early and opened box the construction was solid like how products use to be made in America. Instructions are simple..comes with hardware to mount and easy install. Don’t mind the extra wires those are horn by bass..all you need is the two green wires to your horn…red power and black ground…very loud…and you can add another horn

> 24 hourAfter installing I was immediately impressed which soon faded as I realized the horn on this isnt any louder than my vehicles normal horn. The sirens are okay but too quiet to seem real and not what I bought this product for since using the sirens on public roads is illegal. I bought this for the horn and the PA system. The horn isnt louder than my vehicles horn and the PA system is awful. The quality of the PA system is awful and it isnt usually clear what is being said. It is also really quiet way too quiet to talk to other drivers, really only loud and clear enough to talk to nearby pedestrians; which like if I wanted to do that I would just open my window and talk to them.

> 24 hourOVERALL The control box seems to be larger than it needs to be, causing a mounting issue. I was able to find a place, but not where I initially had hoped to mount the unit. Buttons, switches, and knobs seem very sturdy. Wiring is great - easy to hook up if you have a little experience with automotive electrical systems. The backlit selected Mode titles are a plus, but not having any other functions/switches backlit is a bit of a bummer, especially with how small the volume indicator is on the knob. HORN The Horn is why I bought the unit. Lamphus includes an optional jumper wire that you can connect to your vehicles horn circuit so that pressing your vehicles horn button engages the Lamphus Horn, which can be quite loud. Its a bit of an electric air horn sound, like some of the Police cruisers use. When the control box is turned off, the Horn feature will not work, and when the unit is turned on, the volume knob controls the volume of the Horn, whether using the jumpers or pressing the momentary manual switch on the unit. SIREN I disabled the siren functions because I dont want or need them. I did try it all out during bench testing of course and found the sirens to be toyish. The tones go too high and for too long - they just dont sound like any emergency vehicle sirens. Fine with me - I didnt want them. I disconnected the brown wire behind the momentary on/off/momentary on switch so that now only the Horn function works and not the momentary Siren. Also, I put a screw directly into the face of the device next to the Mode selection knob in such a way that only the Radio and Standby modes can be selected. PA The PA works brilliantly. The volume control which also turns the unit on, controls the volume of the PA as well as the volume of the horn and siren. The microphone unfortunately is permanently attached to the device not allowing for easy replacement or disconnecting for any reason. But the handheld mic seems sturdy, the switch works fine, and the microphone seems to pick up well. There is a very brief delay once the PTT button is pressed until it transmits. RADIO Mode There are two white wires which can be used optionally. They can be hooked up to any devices audio output such as a CB radio, Ham/amateur radio, or iPod, etc and broadcast over the loudspeaker. The volume is controlled solely by the external device (ie: CB, Ham, iPod), and not by the Lamphus system volume. When Radio mode is selected, any signal input into the white wires will be broadcast at the devices volume level regardless of Lamphus volume level. The Horn and Siren switch can be used and the PA can be used during operation in this mode and it will momentarily cancel the input signal. CONTROL 1 and 2 These are two basic switches. You can run a light bar or any other 12 volt device using the supplied wires running from the main harness. LOUDSPEAKER The speaker seems very sturdy and the low profile allows for many mounting locations. I mounted mine between the grill and radiator so that it faces forward but is hard to see from the front of the vehicle. A typical cone shaped speaker would have had to be mounted in the engine compartment or somewhere under the front bumper.

> 24 hourYou get what you pay for! If you want professional, pay the 800 dlls. This is great for someone that knows how to use it. Dont abuse it and it will last. Installation was a 5hr breeze (always have a plan and know what youre doing) and quality is great for the price! Loud great product!
