> 3 dayWish I had gotten one earlier in life. This product has changed my life for the positive. I use this every day and it is GREAT. Could the sound be more clear...yes it could. Would I like one louder...yes I would. Do I wish there was no static at all when using the mic...yes I do. But it is still a KILLER product.

14-06-2025Installed this unit in my patrol vehicle, and let me just say, it is absolutely amazing, efficient and durable. It has worked flawlessly and with no issues at all. It is loud and effective. No complaints! It also has 2 extra switches for you to connect lights or whatever you need. I have my front and rear strobes connected to them. highly recommend it! 5 Stars across the board *****

> 3 dayOVERALL The control box seems to be larger than it needs to be, causing a mounting issue. I was able to find a place, but not where I initially had hoped to mount the unit. Buttons, switches, and knobs seem very sturdy. Wiring is great - easy to hook up if you have a little experience with automotive electrical systems. The backlit selected Mode titles are a plus, but not having any other functions/switches backlit is a bit of a bummer, especially with how small the volume indicator is on the knob. HORN The Horn is why I bought the unit. Lamphus includes an optional jumper wire that you can connect to your vehicles horn circuit so that pressing your vehicles horn button engages the Lamphus Horn, which can be quite loud. Its a bit of an electric air horn sound, like some of the Police cruisers use. When the control box is turned off, the Horn feature will not work, and when the unit is turned on, the volume knob controls the volume of the Horn, whether using the jumpers or pressing the momentary manual switch on the unit. SIREN I disabled the siren functions because I dont want or need them. I did try it all out during bench testing of course and found the sirens to be toyish. The tones go too high and for too long - they just dont sound like any emergency vehicle sirens. Fine with me - I didnt want them. I disconnected the brown wire behind the momentary on/off/momentary on switch so that now only the Horn function works and not the momentary Siren. Also, I put a screw directly into the face of the device next to the Mode selection knob in such a way that only the Radio and Standby modes can be selected. PA The PA works brilliantly. The volume control which also turns the unit on, controls the volume of the PA as well as the volume of the horn and siren. The microphone unfortunately is permanently attached to the device not allowing for easy replacement or disconnecting for any reason. But the handheld mic seems sturdy, the switch works fine, and the microphone seems to pick up well. There is a very brief delay once the PTT button is pressed until it transmits. RADIO Mode There are two white wires which can be used optionally. They can be hooked up to any devices audio output such as a CB radio, Ham/amateur radio, or iPod, etc and broadcast over the loudspeaker. The volume is controlled solely by the external device (ie: CB, Ham, iPod), and not by the Lamphus system volume. When Radio mode is selected, any signal input into the white wires will be broadcast at the devices volume level regardless of Lamphus volume level. The Horn and Siren switch can be used and the PA can be used during operation in this mode and it will momentarily cancel the input signal. CONTROL 1 and 2 These are two basic switches. You can run a light bar or any other 12 volt device using the supplied wires running from the main harness. LOUDSPEAKER The speaker seems very sturdy and the low profile allows for many mounting locations. I mounted mine between the grill and radiator so that it faces forward but is hard to see from the front of the vehicle. A typical cone shaped speaker would have had to be mounted in the engine compartment or somewhere under the front bumper.

> 3 dayDecent loudness with all sirens and horn. PA lacks the same punch as the rest tho at the same volume setting. But it is usable. Maybe the traditional horn loud speaker version maybe louder than this slimline speaker. Its supposed to be slightly louder. And $30 more. I installed this in a 2016 Tahoe and passing the wires from inside the truck to the engine bay was a a nightmare. There is only one passage and that is where the upfit for the police package goes. Otherwise the inside cowling has 3 separate walls to pass thru making it impossible. Search YouTube for passage location videos for your application if you install in late model vehicle. My Tahoe has a plug in passage hole in door body pillar right behind top drivers door hinge. Then passes thru inner fender well to engine bay. Use a stiff but flexible wire to work thru passage into under dash area. Make sure to connect to power with ignition on only. Otherwise a straight battery connection may kill your battery overnight if you leave the power switch on, making you late for work. Ask me how I know!

> 3 dayIf you state allows you to have on your POV for first responders it’ll do what it’s supposed to, but it’s definitely not as loud as whelen or gals or any of those name brands.

Greater than one weekIt’s really loud for being the lowest of the models they offer. I found this out by turning the siren on and proceeding to blaze through traffic and red lights until I found a lonesome officer on his phone while driving so I proceeded to pull him over and place him under citizens arrest until a Pizza Hut delivery driver showed up to take him away in his 2002 Honda Civic. Moral of the story... nobody can out pizza the hut.

> 3 dayMy intended use for this is mainly for the PTT function, which is the one function that isnt very loud. The sirens and horn are stupid loud and my neighbors can attest to that. They also told me they could hear me from outside their house while using the PTT but driving at anything over 15MPH and its drowned out, especially if the person youre attempting contact has windows up and/or a radio on in their vehicle. Ill note that if you hook up the radio function to your vehicles speakers it plays whatever is on your stereo or bluetooth loudly, louder than the PTT but that gets pretty 2002 after a few minutes. Ill update if it breaks or if I add lights to the optional (fused) switch controls.

> 3 dayI had a cheap siren before and this is much louder than the one I had before. My only complaint is the print for which setting you are using seems to be one off from where the knob points to.

> 3 dayThe wind easily overtakes the mic function on the loudspeaker when you approach 30 MPH. Even standing still, it does not carry very far with ambient noise drowning it out during the daytime. The horn and sirens and stuff are all really loud, but you have to yell into the mic to get the extra gain, and even then, it’s not what I imagined. Remember the movie waking life? Alex Jones is driving around, probably doing 40, shouting his opinions through his PA mounted to his car roof rack, and it seemed like it was blasting loud enough to hear from streets down? That’s what I wanted. And it’s not what I got. If anyone can suggest to me how I can get the Waking Life setup, I am all ears. UPDATE: I don’t know if it’s my imagination, or if it got broken in over time. But the the PA is actually pretty loud. I think I just live nearby too much noise pollution. The Margate PD using Wailand (spelling?) PAs are still noticeably louder, but these are not bad, and have functioned well for months now.
