Purchased mostly for the novelty, the concept of an umbrella to increase your visibility when its most likely to be used, dark or overcast rain conditions makes sense and falls under the why did no one think of this sooner? category. As an umbrella, it should work fine. A few points to consider: - This is not your average nylon umbrella. Its thick, almost like vinyl. It seems like 3M Scotchlite, though thats not indicated anywhere. If youve ever seen anything with Scotchlite reflective strips you know how thick it can be. This is that thick, all of it. The material doesnt like to collapse or fold well. Trying to get the velcro strap around it is a stretch. Im expecting the tight folding will cause some breakdown in the reflective properties at the creases. - Its a collapsible umbrella, but has no spring loading. The new style is nifty where the button collapses the top as well as extends the entire package. This doesnt even work like the old style, where the button springs everything out. This is 100% manual opening. The shaft will extend while the umbrella is in the case if you try to grab the handle and pull. You need to push from the closed end of the carry case and get some bulk hanging out that you can grab on to. - The handle is plastic, and threads on to a plastic tip. Expecting this may fail at some point. Overall, youre likely paying for the reflective material and possibly the most bare-bones, chintziest umbrella framework probably out of the East.

I was expecting the diameter of the umbrella to be larger. I wanted diameter to be the size of a golf umbrella.

My daughter loved this! We have not had the chance to use it yet but we did put water on it to watch the colors change. Very cool!

Bought this at an art gallery recently because being an artist and loving vibrant colors, I couldnt pass it up. Now I wish I did, and not just because it was overpriced, but it broke on the first use. One metal arm mysteriously cracked. I tried to adjust the arm and bend it back into shape, but that only caused the entire arm to snap in half. I figured Alright...I guess I can deal with just one arm being broken. Tried to use it again today...and another arm didnt open properly and bent itself as well. So the brand name fits this well. It really does SUCK.

Bought this in France for the 35 Euro . Alas, it only lasted me about 3 months. It was fairly sturdy initially but then the color changing substance started to peel off if you closed the umbrella when wet, so I’d leave it open and upside down to dry out before I closed it up. Then the extender broke off and I Frankensteined it back to working condition, then the plastic notch that holds the umbrella taught wore down and wither umbrella wouldn’t stay open any more. This, of course, happened when it was pouring out, so it lost its functionality after three months of minimal use. I really didn’t use it more Than once or twice a week. I could deal with the extender coming off, but the piece that holds it open is crap. Don’t waste your money. 3 months isn’t worth 35 dollars.

I recommend this for everyone. It is portable and durable

Bought this for my middle schooler as things get dark and rainy here in Seattle. But after opening the darn thing there was NO WAY we could easily close it up again and wrap the strap around it. When I finally got it secured, the strap stitching had started to pull apart. And there was no way to get it back in the little pocket thing. The fabric seems thick for the reflective quality maybe but poorly designed and definitely not going to send it with my kiddo to wrestle with as she gets on the bus. Lame.
