> 24 hourI set this unit up on the bench near my Nexia ZWave gateway. I tested all the functionality by connecting it to a power cord. I was able to include it to my network, and operate the switch manually, through the PC app, and using automations. Next I replaced a working GE ZWave outlet with the Swdget. I reviewed the ZWave/USB plugin module also. What I thought was a distance problem turned out to be an issue with the plugin not making connection in the outlet. My guess is that the plugin may have been torqued by the Decor trim plate. Not sure if the holes for the trim plate are drilled exactly where they should be.

> 24 hourIve now installed 8 of the wifi outlets and absolutely love them. Easy installation. Cut the power to the outlet at your junction box, install, power back up, pair the device using your phone, update the firmware with the app, calibrate and youre good to go. Had some initial challenges with my outlets disconnecting when my internet went down, but the latest firmware update appears to have corrected the problem. Havent had any issues in several weeks. Looking forward to the new inserts. Motion sensors and video are at the top of my list. My current setup: #1. Office Lamp - using app scheduling feature #2. Sump Pump - Set-up for automatic power-out notifications to my phone. #3. Stereo / Alexa setup - Turns on Alexa during waking hours. Privacy!. #4. Fountain - using timer feature and Alexa voice control to impress guests. #5. Outdoor lighting - using IFTTT for dawn dusk control (Weather Underground) #6. Kids Bedroom - using night light insert and it controls duct booster fan with IFTT connection to Nest #7. Master Bedroom - Duct booster fan control with IFTTT connection to Nest #8. Living Room Lamp - set to cycle using IFTTT triggers when out of town.

> 24 hourI love the flexibility of the Swidget. It’s easy to install and set up and the inserts are simple to swap out. I look forward to development of more inserts and plan on purchasing more.

> 24 hourI just received my Swidget outlet and Wifi insert from backing the product on Kickstarter. I received three of them and have installed one so far. Was easy to install, as easy as a single pole smart light switch. Setting up an account was a breeze. Linking the device to the network was a breeze. Getting the device into Google assistant was a breeze. Minus 1 star because the color of the wifi insert doesnt exactly match the rest of the outlet, but hard to tell once items are plugged into the outlet.

> 24 hourIn case it isnt clear by the time you read this review, this item is the outlet and you separately purchase an insert to augment the outlets functionality as needed for your desired use case. As such, I will mainly be commenting on the outlet here and do a separate review as well for the Wi-Fi Control insert I used with the outlet. The outlet appears to be very high quality. It installed and worked as expected. Keep in mind it is deeper than a plain cheap outlet so the most difficult part is getting the wiring to easily and safely fit in the electrical box. You may need to trim the length of existing wires or pull them all out and reorganize them to fold neatly into the back of the electrical box. Everything you need except the tools is included with the outlet. The outlet has hot and neutral wires then a screw for the ground. The flexibility this outlet offers by being able to accept all the different inserts and the included power monitoring makes it a premium product. It is priced accordingly. If you are simply looking for the cheapest path to a Wi-Fi controlled outlet, this is not it. If you are looking for something with FLEXIBILITY to change as your needs/desires change then THIS IS IT - and it is unique in that way. I really like the product. At its current price point I will pick and choose where I install them. For example, if I want a controlled socket that will live behind a dresser I will likely choose a cheaper option and give up the flexibility and clean look of this product. However, if I want to control something in a high traffic area this is much cleaner and gives me many option added benefits (e.g. lights, motion control, USB charging, etc). If price is not a concern then I cant think of a reason not to put these everywhere to future proof your space. FYI, I purchased this product through their original Kickstarter campaign.

> 24 hourI see a lot of the reviews on this product are for the inserts that are sold separately. Personally, I have had no problems with the outlets (or the zwave modules) and I am quite the fan. I use these with OpenHab and absolutely love them. The modular idea is amazing, and I love it. My only criticism is the wires coming out the back, vs push to insert holes, but it is just a preference thing, there is nothing wrong about it. They also include wirenuts for convenience, but again my personal preference is for lever nuts. Update: For anyone purchasing this and concerned about the size of your box... Try these nuts: https://www.amazon.com/221-412-2-Conductor-Compact-Splicing-Connectors/dp/B00JB3U7Y6

> 24 hourI purchased this outlet together with the Z-wave insert, but found that the outlet had a mind of its own. It was difficult to command it to turn itself off, even when I used the manual control button to do so. Even worse, I found the unit turning itself on randomly, without being told to do so. On top of this, the Tamper Resistant covers are frustratingly difficult to work with. The other Tamper Resistant outlets in my house are much easier to use. I have replaced it with a GE/Jasco outlet, and so far, that outlet works much better, is less frustrating to use, and is cheaper. I hope Swidget learns to improve their design, and I like the concept of a modular and upgradable system, but it just doesnt seem to be ready yet.

> 24 hourOriginally, I ordered this smart outlet for its high configurability in being able to swap modules for guide lights, USB connections, temperature sensor, motion sensor, etc... At least with the two different modules that I used, the Swidget smart outlet has lived up to its billing! The outlet is a regular dumb outlet until you buy the smart module insert. The smart module (sold separately) inserts allows you to utilize different sensors, connections (guide light, USB, etc...), measure energy usage, and allows you to turn on/off the bottom socket via the Swidget app. The top socket is left always on. The Swidget app is downloadable for Android and iOS. Installation: The Swidget outlet comes with a wall plate, wiring nuts, screws, and instructions. Check with your local electrician if any questions on the wiring, but the insulation of the wires is already pre-stripped. The physical installation is similar to most other smart light switches. Once installed you need a smart module insert to install the outlet and the appropriate software. if you do have a smart module then you just insert it and follow the instructions from the Swidget app. Once fully installed the app allows you to measure the power usage and control one of the sockets. I used a WiFi module so it allowed me to use WiFi to connect to the outlet and once connected there was a Firmware upgrade that was applied. There are other modules that you can purchase from Swidget for Z-Wave and other features. Would suggest to Swidget that they cut the wiring insulation a little longer as I needed to strip off another 1/4 to ensure the wiring nuts held. I did have an issue with the SW detection of the smart modules, but their Customer Service was GREAT! They provided explanations to me and resolved my issues very quickly over email! Bottomline: Its a great idea to make your outlets customizable. I really like the control and the information you can get from the smart modules. Some small things are that the software sometimes lags communications with the Smart Module, so that you might need to send commands twice to turn something on/off. Biggest challenge is the cost as you need to buy the smart module and the receptacle outlet separately. I would recommend that they bundle more at least the WiFi controller so that the smart outlet really is smart when you get it. Overall, I like the control, the information, not too difficult to setup and I think the outlets look great! Update after ~1 week of usage: Theres a reset button on the Smart Insert that you push to do certain things like reset and detection. However, when plugging in a charger on the top socket that hangs downward it will hit the reset button. You just need to plug it into the bottom charger, but you might have some charging adapters that interfere with the reset button. Thats really been my only usage problem thus far as the power usage data has been interesting. Update after ~1 month of usage: with the USB insert that I purchased, the connection between the outlet and the insert isnt as solid as I would like in a standalone USB outlet. So, if you have a snug fit on the USB port connector insert and when you attempt to remove the cable thats been inserted, the USB insert module feels loose as you extract the USB cable. Doesnt feel solid enough.
