As the saying goes, just because you can do something doesnt mean you should. Time would have been better spent on strong character development rather than another exercise in visually beating the viewer senseless with over the top action sequences. And why must we insist on adding pointless storyline just to get another big name in the credits? Im hoping for a phantom edit to trim this yawn into something more tolerable.

Would have been happy if it followed the book without the additions. However still a great movie.

Benedict Cumberbatch was superb as Smoug!! Sorry we missed it in the theaters... would have been amazing on the big screen.

This is by far the best out of the two movies, at least for me. The interaction between Bilbo and Smaug is the highlight of the movie. Matin Freeman was born to play Bilbo Baggins.
