This book is different from any I have ever read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Reading descriptions of people and objects from the perspective of a person who was deaf, blind and mute and relied solely on touch, taste and smell makes me truly appreciate having all my senses in tact and teaches me not to take that for granted.

Informative book about the silent world of the deaf/blind culture.

As a nurse, I deal with a lot of patient challenges but reading this gave me a new perspective of the challenges vision & hearing impaired patients go through. This showed me that my perception was way off. Great book! Easy to read & understand. Highly recommend it!

Im was overwhelmed with the amazing insight to Helens world and how God allowed her to see and hear by his spirit guiding her through touch smell and revelations he imparted to her. I love her statement I always knew he was there but I didnt know his name unti I was introduced to him at 17

I had no idea of parts of the senses that go unused. Helen Keller gave detailed readings of the world and activities. This felt like it had a poetry slant to her story.

This is an amazing book by an amazing human being. I truly do not understand how a person could construct a sophisticated, subtle, and comprehensive understanding of the world with only the sense of taste, smell, and touch. Absolutely miraculous. A great testimony to God and to the human spirit. Each essay is a little gem, easy to read. If they dont bring a lump to your throat, you may lead the unexamined life.
