Astounding how insightful this woman was, as if sight was an impediment to true understanding. Incredibly eye-opening and delicate non fiction.

I particularly enjoyed reading about her dreams and how she saw the world with her hands. However I didnt enjoy the repeated focus on proving that life is just as good or perhaps better without the ability to see. Its a fruitless argument from any side, she was speaking to a different audience of a different time of course but this became quickly redundant.

This book is amazing! To think what Helen Keller went through is almost mind boggling. She was a wonderful woman who stood her ground for what she believed in, despite not being able to hear or see. She overcame obstacles that would make your head spin. The book The World I Live In reveals so much about her life. Read it and you, too, will be amazed.

The writings of Helen Keller will always stand the test of time, and will always have something profound, for any and every generation. Her vivid and thought provoking explanation of how she interprets her environment is stunningly beautiful. It is filled with interesting historical tidbits, too. She describes the hands of some of the famous people she has met, such as Mark Twain, and what those hands said to her. This book is also a reminder that many people today need alternative ways to communicate. Most of us know someone with a low functioning loved one on the autism spectrum. I think it is important to remember that in Kellers time, she was considered low functioning. I pray we find the key to unlock autism, and Kellers life and writings offer hope that one day that door, like hers, will be unlocked.

It was fascinating to read about what Helens world was like... To learn about how she could smell the changes in the seasons, feel the difference between people by their walk, etc

It is totally unbelieveable what she accomplished in her life. She learned more than most people with all 5 senses intact.
