This backpack is perfect for my needs. I got it to protect my new laptop when I go to work for 24 hour shifts. I have a notebook, iPad, and a case with my chargers and headphones that all fits easily in the large compartment. The middle compartment I keep writing utensils, a pocket knife and some odds and ends as well a vitamin case in the zipper pocket which fits perfectly. The small outer packet holds keys, a bag of floss picks, wallet, etc. Love this backpack and get comments For the record I got the olive color and it’s great. Most of my clothes are grey, blue, and black like a lot of men and the olive green goes well with all of it. If you are looking for an all purpose back pack but also want to protect a laptop the chasm is highly recommended.

Very well designed backpack which keeps load on the shoulders minimal, and is full of useful storage compartments for one to stay organized.

My previous Dakine bag bit it after almost a decade of use. Having recently had a good experience with Thule with respect to a warranty-claim, I thought Id give one of their bags a go. My main purpose was a bag I could for weekend trips to other *cities* that fit under the seat in front of me on most airlines. This is not a backpack for the wilderness! In this regard, the Chasm 26l does not disappoint. Sure 30l would be better, but through the power of packing cubes and outfit selection, I dont miss those 4l. Build quality and stitching is good. It has good water repellent characteristics, though it is *not* a dry bag. The zippers seem sturdy, though it always takes time to find out a zippers true nature. The compartments protect electronics well and are organized intelligently. Some other reviewers didnt like the layout, which confuses me. The layout is very easy to intuit from the pictures here on the product page. Its easy to get to anything in the bag, perhaps they dont pack for their trips logically? Finally, theres all the extra thought going on around the exterior. The water bottle pocket is sleek but holds Hydroflask/Contigo/Yeti type water bottles ranging from 16-40oz well. Sturdy, but low profile webbing loops on both sides of the pack give you options to clip/tie extras to the outside of the bag. Handles for grabbing the top or side of the bag are beefy. Finally, all the straps have elastic keepers for stowing excess. No straps will flop around and hit you when running through a terminal nor will they get stuck in the weird cracks that abound in between seats on public transport. These little details show the care you expect in a premium product. I look forward to many adventures with this bag!

The Thule Chasm Backpack is similar to our old Thule backpack with some nice new touches. Our child is still using that one after eight years, so we have no complaints. It’s lasted through a bachelor’s degree and they’re nearly done with a PhD. Thule produces quality products that we expect to last. This bag looks built for that, too. It has plenty of pockets for different purposes. Small ones for those little things that need a place and deep ones for the larger items. The laptop slot on the side is big enough for any 15” or smaller with ease. It’s well padded and will still have room for whatever else you want to carry. Nice mesh pockets in two places, pencil/pen slots, a clip for your keys,a massive outside pocket for your drink container or umbrella (or possibly both). They’ve also added little slots for the excess straps to slide inside so that they stay out of the way. The bag is big enough to pack your laptop and clothes for a weekend but lightweight when empty. So, yeah, we like Thule. I’m glad that this bag compares favorably to the old one and confirms what we already believe about them.

Fell apart in a month, cheap zipper literally threw 130$ in the trash buying this... Emailed Thule customer service and got no response. Would definitely not recommend and will think twice before purchasing another Thule product.

Really well designed and solidly constructed. High quality materials. Looks great. Excellent weight distribution. In some backpacks items just fall to the bottom making it awkward to carry on your bag. Comfortable to wear. Perfect layout of pockets and compartments. Keeps its shape regardless of what you put in it. Love the laptop accessibility from the side, and also the side handle, which actually works well because the backpack keeps its shape pretty much regardless of how its handled. My only slight complaint is that a laptop can bounce back and forth while you walk if thats all you have in the pack. Solved pretty simply by stuffing another small item in there.

This backpack is great! The backpack is very durable - its front and base are water-resistant. There are tons of features and storage. To start, there is a compartment for your computer, which is both accessible from the top of the backpack and also from the side. It is big enough for a 15 inch lap top. The main compartment is definitely large enough for my use. There is a secondary storage, which is the front compartment, which is also really handy. It is big enough for an iPad (not an iPad Pro) and other smaller items. There are a couple of zippered compartments within the smaller storage compartment. There is a nice slot for sunglasses that is protected and another compartment for smaller items and a spot for pens and pencils. Lastly, I love that it has a side pocket for a water bottle. This is great for work, school, or travel. Really functional, lots of storage, and really durable.

This is a great backpack! No protests from the flight attendants when I put it under the seat during takeoff. It fits into the smallest section near the aisle. The sides are perfectly flush with the compartment. It was on a Delta flight, but I think you could probably get away with using this backpack as a personal item on budget carriers as well. It helps to put the pack straps down and head first, since the top section of the pack is somewhat tapered from the back to the front. The backpack itself is very comfortable. I appreciate the chest strap when it is fully loaded. I feel like I could hike 15 miles with this thing. One complaint is that the main pocket is a little hard to access.

Thules Chasm Backpack is made from a mixture of woven and rubberized fabrics. The backpack is very well made and feels substantial and robust. Its also very nicely made with good attention to detail, smooth zippers, and a well trimmed interior. The backpack has a large and deep main compartment. It has a padded sleeve in the back of the main compartment that fits my 15 MacBook Pro or 10 iPad Pro well. You can also access the padded sleeve from the side of the backpack when you need to retrieve your electronics quickly. On the front of the backpack are two additional compartments. One is small and lined with a soft fleece. The other is deep and contains multiple pockets and pouches. I used the backpack for a week-long vacation to take my toiletries, large Bluetooth speaker, iPad, Kindle, chargers, car keys, electric shaver, and a change of clothes. All of the items fit well and were easy to organize and find when I needed to. The Thule is easy and comfortable to carry on your back. The straps and rear of the backpack are nicely padded and there is a strap that goes across your chest for added support and stability. There is a carry handle on the top and side. All in all... a great backpack.

Love it overall. Hoping zippers glide better after using it for a while. Doesn’t hold as much as i was hoping but great for big laptop. Love the orange color. Plenty of space for tech stuff. Also. All zippers can line up so u can put just one lock through and secure all the compartments with one lock. Cool for traveling. I have two matching orange duffel bags that also turn into back pack that are also great.
