> 24 hourReally well designed and solidly constructed. High quality materials. Looks great. Excellent weight distribution. In some backpacks items just fall to the bottom making it awkward to carry on your bag. Comfortable to wear. Perfect layout of pockets and compartments. Keeps its shape regardless of what you put in it. Love the laptop accessibility from the side, and also the side handle, which actually works well because the backpack keeps its shape pretty much regardless of how its handled. My only slight complaint is that a laptop can bounce back and forth while you walk if thats all you have in the pack. Solved pretty simply by stuffing another small item in there.

> 24 hourThis is a nice backpack, comfortable for casual use. Its good if you need a laptop sleeve. If you dont, get another model since the laptop sleeve gets in the way for other stuff. Note this does NOT mount on another bag. They dont claim they do, but we assumed it was the case.

> 24 hourThe Thule Chasm Backpack is similar to our old Thule backpack with some nice new touches. Our child is still using that one after eight years, so we have no complaints. It’s lasted through a bachelor’s degree and they’re nearly done with a PhD. Thule produces quality products that we expect to last. This bag looks built for that, too. It has plenty of pockets for different purposes. Small ones for those little things that need a place and deep ones for the larger items. The laptop slot on the side is big enough for any 15” or smaller with ease. It’s well padded and will still have room for whatever else you want to carry. Nice mesh pockets in two places, pencil/pen slots, a clip for your keys,a massive outside pocket for your drink container or umbrella (or possibly both). They’ve also added little slots for the excess straps to slide inside so that they stay out of the way. The bag is big enough to pack your laptop and clothes for a weekend but lightweight when empty. So, yeah, we like Thule. I’m glad that this bag compares favorably to the old one and confirms what we already believe about them.

> 24 hourI am a huge fan of Thule and own many products manufactured by the company. You know you are going to pay a premium when you purchase the Thule brand, but the quality you receive never fails to disappoint! This backpack is no exception! I also own the Thule Chasm Luggage and it is equally impressive. PROS: (1) This is a very weather-resistant full-sized backpack. I can truly feel safe carrying all of my electronics in this bag during severe weather. If I know Im going to be spending a significant amount of time outdoors during my travels, this will be my go-to pack. (2) Despite being relatively compact in size, this backpack has a ton of storage space for all of your personal items. It is made to accommodate a 15 laptop, but I can fit my 17 (just not in the dedicated compartment) with plenty of room to spare. (3) The materials used to construct this pack are all very durable and should last for years, with normal use. (4) I really like the quick access options. There is one small one for snacks or a cell phone and also a large side-access zipper to quickly access your larger items. (5) I am 54, 155 pounds. My husband is 6, 250 pounds. We both found this pack comfortable to wear. For those who suffer from back problems, this is a comfortable option. Unlike most products that I review, I dont have any CONS to list about this backpack. My only big recommendation would be to include a removable bladder, so that there is an option to also use this as a hydration pack. Thule really thought of just about everything when they made this product. Overall, you can put your trust in this Thule backpack just like you do in all Thule products. Its a great addition to the Thule line.

> 24 hourThe Thule Chasm Backpack is an incredible bag for travel and also day to day use. Its got a sleek and sophisticated look that goes from work to weekend. There are tons of different compartments and pockets to help keep me organized, but the thing I love the most about this bag is that the laptop compartment can be accessed from inside the bag, or from outside. Every other backpack Ive owned in the past has required me to open up the entire thing in order to get my computer out. With this one, its so easy to pop it out the side without opening up the entire thing and exposing all my contents. Thats particularly useful in the airport security line. This bag is large and spacious, and I love the water resistant exterior. Like another reviewer had mentioned, it does have widely spaced shoulder straps. However, there is an adjustable chest strap between them that helps keep them securely fastened together so they dont slip off my shoulders, and that gives me a feeling of security and comfort while wearing this backpack. Overall, this is an incredible bag that is well-constructed and I expect it to last me for years to come. My husband has already tried to steal it from me since he also likes it so much!

> 24 hourThule Chasm Backpack is super durable and strong with a very good water resistant exterior. Very easy to access and holds my laptop securely along with so many other items. I love the shoulder straps as they are breathable and easy to put on my back. The price is really right and it lasts and I feel confident will hold up for years. The black color matches everything and does not show the dirt. Overall, amazing.

> 24 hourI really love this backpack! I used it on my first trip that I took in months and it really did the job. This is a fantastic bag for travel and everyday use. It has a sophisticated and sleek look. The material is durable and water resistant, and the stitching is tight. It has a nice carrying handle on the side when you can’t put it on your back. Wearing it as a backpack is very comfortable. The straps are padded and wide and it comes with a chest strap. They are pretty widely spaced straps so comfortable for women to wear as well as men. It does not a band to cinch up the excess strap when you cinch it to your back so you do get some dangling strap. It has a hidden water bottle pocket that I did not realize was there at first. It held my water bottle snugly and did not let it move around. The bag is rather narrow so it really wont fit really bulky items inside. Once you unzip it – and it is a partial zip, so this does not open like a clamshell bag, it has three compartments: a small one, a medium one that has organizer/pen pockets and a key hook, and the main compartment. The main one is divided in two with a laptop sleeve (which has quick access from a side zipper and is elevated to prevent hitting the ground when you set it down) and a large cavern. All smaller organizational pockets are lined with a micro-fiber cloth to protect screens and sunglasses. One down side it that the bag does tend to collapse easily and not stand upright when you set it down. Overall this is a great bag for urban use, for commuting, or for day hikes. Even in inclement weather it will protect what is inside it (as long as it is not a deluge!)
