Greater than one weekOnly had it for a month, but so far I love it. Very durable, heavy duty zippers that seem like they will last a long time. The laptop compartment is big enough for just that, no room for extra books, magazines, etc. But the large compartment fits a ton. I can easily fit a gallon of water, my lunch Tupperware, and a thermos. Plus there are still 4 additional external pouches for anything else - medicines, cell phone, keys, etc.
