Its a P25 Phase 1 and 2 scanner and appears to work as advertised. Proscan software works for programming purposes with this radio and the mobile version, the BCD996P2. It takes only two batteries instead of the three that the BCD396XT required and will require recharging before you think. Keep an extra set of batteries available. Also, no backlit keypad but the display is backlit. Its very different than what it replaces, the BCD396XT. Uniden does include a mini-USB cable for programming and power purposes. The required cable driver is available on the internet. If you need a Phase 2 P25 handheld scanner this one is a winner.

The batteries it comes with need replacing. But the unit is fantastic! I use it daily with no issues at all. Use with chirp to program, makes it so much easier. But replace the batteries.

All I can say is Im impressed! This little scanner really pulls in the distant signals. I have been a scanner enthusiast over 40 years and have owned several BearCat scanners along with Radio Shack radios. I also own a SDS200 and the BCD325P2 gives it a run for the money when it comes to reception. The SDS has many more features but the BCD325P2 being a 335 buck radio is well worth the investment. I highly recommend a radiorefference.co subscription and also purchasing a license for the ProScan software. After doing so, I had the scanner receiving all of the local area channels in no time. Note that depending where you live, you may need to upgrade to the DMR, ProVoice or NXDN license to listen in your area. I often listen to my 325P on the carport under an aluminum canopy with the included rubber duck antenna and pickup channels 30 mile away as the bird flies. I highly recommend the BCD325P2 scanner.

I already have the desktop version of this scanner, the BCD996P2, so I decided to get this one as a portable to be able to take in the car, easily move it between rooms, etc. Solid scanner that is capable of every kind of radio system you are trying to monitor. Analog, P25, DMR, etc. Currently working on an issue with the DMR upgrade key with Uniden but other than that, both have been excellent.

Not the easiest to program. Manual is very confusing.

Some advice based on my experience, my opinion only . I am amateur radio operator, so I am familiar with frequency databases, and programming radios to hear what I want. 1. The only way to go is to use the free scanner programming software. 2. sign up up for an account on Radio Reference. 3. Use the software to pull the freqs you want form the RR web-site. Once programmed, the BCD325P2 is great to use. Has good sensitivity. This is the best scanner Ive owned. 4. Invest in extra NiMH batteries and a charger. The BCD325 only charges when it is turned off and uses a timer to prevent overcharging which may result in the built-in charger shutting off before the batteries are fully charged resulting in short battery life. Pay attention ! Its a very good scanner.

Ok scanner, but battery life could be better, charging while in use, and Bluetooth capability would also be a major plus, so I could connect to my car, and other wireless speakers. Programming is not to bad, *if* you use an app. Overall, Im happy with the purchase, but it could be improved a lot in the areas I mentioned.

A lot of distortion on trucking freq. took apart the stock antenna added a paper clip instead and cut it size to clean up some of the distortion. More distortion if you are holding it as opposed to setting it on a counter across the room. Battery life isn’t great but I have 8 rechargeable batteries on a charger. If you’re more serious I guess you have to spend another 250 bucks to get better performance. The speaker is loud on digital but lower on analog and yes I updated the firmware. Knowing what I know now I probably would have either spend more mone or picked another hobby.
