I didnt care for the fact that the radio arrived to me with an older firmware version. The first thing I had to do with the radio was update the firmware myself. Other than that issue I really like the radio a lot. Perhaps in the future the firmware version can be shown before purchase is made. Thank you for listening. GC

This is a good scanner. However like just about all scanners I have used, Simulcast distortion is an issue.I currently have 2 large simulcast systems in range of my location. One is the county system the other is the Detroit system. The county system works well most of the time but the Detroit system has considerable distortion. I am planning to add a yagi antenna system and I hope that will resolve the issue. The other concern I have is not performance related but the cost of upgrading the radio for DMR/NXDN. If you want those upgrades it will cost you an additional 100 dollars. Overall I would recommend the Scanner and as I said all scanners I have ever used have the same simulcast distortion issue with the stock antenns. All conventional and DMR. Systems have worked very well.

Bought for the Schenectady NY area because Fire/EMS moved to the new P25 Phase II system. This thing is terrible to program, and just doesnt work consistently with the simulcast system in the Schenectady area.

Great Scanner! Definitely watch YouTube videos to see how to program it, the instructions are confusing. The sound is a little muffled, but that could be the officers.

When I got this I thought it would be hard to program, but with a little reading and trying ..... its pretty easy!!!!

The trunktracker verisions that are a little less expensive than the homepatrol models come at the added cost of having to either program yourself or pay for someone to send you a preprogrammed unit. If you can follow a few simple you tube videos it is not hard to program this unit yourself, and as an added benefit you can then decide to only add the channels you want. If you manage to limit that to what is in your reachable area rather than everything youd get on a zip code search on the home patrol model you can end up with a setup where you have a higher probability of constant traffic. Once I figured out the frequencies used closest to me Ive been able to setup my scanner such that it is almost constant traffic, rather than traffic with periods of dead air I experienced with my home patrol model. My home patrol model was much easier to setup, and only needed my zip code, but along with that you may get more frequencies enabled than you might prefer.

This is a great desk top scanner. It does have a learning curve, which means you can expect to do some learning! My experience with software called FreeSCAN and RadioReference.com made set-up SO much easier. A 1-yr subscription to RadioReference is $60 at this time, well worth it as it does make set-up using FreeSCAN much easier! All in all, No Regrets, as the scanner price on Amazon is VERY good. Im in a low spot, still reception has not been an issue. The sound quality is good, but there is always room for improvement. Otherwise, no complaints. It is complex, yet doable with some patience and flexibility.

Recieved in the mail quickly and the scanner works well. Sound quality of the radio is good. It is however a bit tedious programing the scanner via the menus but have downloaded the radio reference free software and the scanner is now up and running with all of my local frequencies. I am getting good reception from PDs 30 miles from my home with the stock antenna. I am however going to give this product four stars, not because the radio lacks quality but because I did not recieve the mounting hardware. Am planning to mount this scanner in my vehicle but the package seems to be missing the twist nuts for the mount and mounting screws. It wont be hard to drive down to my local hardware store to pick up to screws that will work, but at the price point of 350, it is disappointing not to have recieve the radio with all of its intended contents.

Finally figured this thing out kinda. Was fun to set up. I certainly hope it doesnt fail after a 75 mph drop onto the interstate, because the electronics are the same ones from the 80s. Seems like uniden has lost the desire to advance the product. I just hope this thing has the uniden durability from the past era. TOOK A MONTH to figure out how to program it. Uses the antique style usb thing, so you know the people that designed it are not going for convenience, or functionality so much. It needs a type c port.

You can use the BCD325P2 to monitor police and fire departments (including rescue and paramedics), NOAA weather transmissions, business/industrial radio, utilities, marine and amateur (ham radio) bands, and air band transmissions. Features 25,000 dynamic channels.
