12-06-2025I took this little bit out for a spin and was very happy with the results. The pictures are with a piece of 1/2” plywood. I grabbed another piece to use below it to test out the bearing portion of the bit as well, but didn’t look to see that the edge was rough, hence the less than straight cut. This bit left a splinter free cut on both sides of the plywood. It cut quickly through the 1/8” of material I was trimming off. Just keep a few things in mind. This is only a 1/4” bit. Take it easy or you’ll probably snap it. The part of the bit that makes the clean upward cuts (just above the bearing) is small. As in about a 1/4”. You have to have the bit depth adjusted correctly so that the bottom of you board is inside that cutting area or else you’ll be using the downcut portion of the bit and probably get splintering.

> 3 dayThis is a very interesting take on a compression spiral bit, one Ive not seen before. Its not what you would typically expect from a compression spiral, with upward and downward flutes meeting at roughly the center of the cutting area. Instead, its more like a down-spiral bit, with a pair of shearing rakers like a Freud Quadracut bit at the tip end. I wouldnt want to use it for something you need a real compression spiral to get the best performance out of, but this has performed very nicely for me in the little bit of testing I have done so far. It was able to make nice, clean pattern cuts in walnut, oak, and pine with no fuzzing or tearout. The bit comes razor sharp, as youd expect from a spiral, and so far has held up well. I will be really interesting to see how it holds up longer term, but at least in the short term it has held and cut very nicely.

> 3 dayUnreal quality for a great price. Leaves a great edge finish. No tear out or splinter. This is the 3rd brand of compression spiral I have tried and this one is far superior from the others. Used for several projects and havent seen any decline in the performance. Definitely recommend this product.

> 3 dayAs it is an off brand from Amazon, I dont have high hopes for longevity. That being said, for a hobbyist the price is right and it works great so far. Only time will tell on durability.

> 3 dayA spiral flush-trim bit such as this is a somewhat newish design that combines features and benefits of both upcut bits and downcut bits. And flush trim means that this bit is designed to follow a pattern along its bearing, to allow the material above the pattern to be cut flush to that pattern. You don’t want to ask a bit such as this to hog off much material; it’s forte is trimming small amounts smoothly even with sheet goods and areas of changing grain direction. So use your saw to cut close to the line, and this bit to just make that last 1/16” tight to the line and smooth. I can’t say that I have past experience with this company, but this bit does a nice job for a very good price and I would buy one of these again. I’ll update this if the bit seems to not hold up well! I hope this review has been helpful to you!

> 3 dayThe 1/4-inch Up Down Compression Spiral Flush Trim Router Bit performed well in my testing. The bit cuts fast and leaves a smooth surface. I tested the bit with 7/8-inch-thick air-dried Cherry wood. The bit performed as described.

> 3 dayThis is well made, every bit as good as the more expensive Freud and Rockler bits I own. It comes in its own plastic case that closely matches the size of the bit for easy storage. It may seem trivial, but I store my bits in their original packaging, and the cases on Freud bits huge, so much bigger than the bit they hold, this case is perfect for how I like to store my bits. I haven’t used it enough to speak on its long term durability yet, but there are no red flags yet as far as the cut quality or craftsmanship is concerned. Recommended.
