I honestly wanted this just for the thread; I bought some cross stitch patterns and planned to use it to relax in the evenings away from social media. I have needles and so on already, but didnt need them as everything is in the box. You have a pincushion, needles, scissors, and needle threader! I ordered this kit over others because the threads have DMC numbers, were already on bobbins, and had 250 colors so I should be able to get some stitching in before I need other colors. They were sorted by color so I emptied them all out and sorted by number, making a list of what I had at the same time. After filling each box in turn from my sorted piles, I put a note on each level so Id know what numbers were in that one. Ive started my first pattern and had most of the colors! If you end up needing more than one skein, you will need to get DMC since these are not sold individually. Colors may not perfectly match, but Im amusing myself, not looking to please the cross stitch police! I am very pleased with the quality, sheen, and how well the thread sews without tangling. Its excellent for the price.

I bought for myself for making quick colorful patches. It’s quick access and all together economical.

This was exactly what I was looking for when I picked up cross stitching again. It keeps everything organized and in one place, it has all the tools you’ll need, and there’s plenty of variety in colors to do basic projects. The only problem I have with it is that the spools of thread cannot be stored upright. I would like to be able to see the numbers on them at a glance, but if you stack them with the numbers on top, they’re too tall to shut the case all the way! Besides that, it’s a great place to start for cross stitching/embroidery. You might still need to buy a few extra colors if you’re looking to do something specific, but I’ve found close enough matches in this kit for everything I’ve worked on so far.

1. The thread colours are coded to DMC, so they are easy to find and replace when you use up a colour. The bobbins have durable marking of the colour code on them. 2. The organization of the colours makes sense, both in the context of DMC colour chart, and also due to the shades and tints according to a classic colour wheel. 3. For the price, the thread is incredibly soft, silky to the touch, and very nice to work with. 4. For the price, the various colours of the threads have the same feel and diameter. I highly recommend this tidy kit, even though the plastic box is a bit thin as has been noted by others in these reviews. I dont really care about the box, as we have wooden boxes lying about most of the time.

Great case, contains great string and items. My first box was cracked but was quickly replaced. There are repeats of some colors, but it is a great base kit to get you a lot of different colors.
