Completely sanded two large log homes down to raw wood. Some folks use media blasters, but I found those ruin the draw knife detail on the logs. Although they do not state the grit, it comparable to Osborn brush.(around 80 grit). Last longer than the Osborn brush. Get the variable speed large Makita sander/ grinder and keep the RPM’s at 2000 or less so you will not deform the bristles. Great product. Sold one cabin for high 6 figures and the new owners were amazed at the quality of the finish on the exterior. Lot of work but was well compensated.

    This is a 5 brush, not a 6 brush.

The great thing is no stray wires flinging off that is the norm for a wire cup brush. Works great for all sorts of shapes and items. Has a lot of bite, so it needs a variable speed grinder. Used it to clean up a frame and engine compartment prior to paint.

Very effective at scuffing paint. Perfect for prepping a truck bed for spray on liner. Not good for a high rpm tool (like a single speed 10,000 rpm angle grinder for instance - way too aggressive and cant be controlled). Get an adaptor and use it with your drill.

I needed to lightly remove some areas of stain that was peeling on my log cabin. After pressure washing, not all of the peeling stain came off so I was left with the option to wire brush. I purchased the 6 cup and purchased a cheap variable speed polisher from harbor freight. This cup will last longer than the polisher. I went over my entire building about 1500 sq ft of logs and it hardly showed any wear. I will say you definitely need a variable speed tool or this thing will most likely come apart over about 3500 rpm. I ran mine most the time around 1500rpms. Works great and gently removed the flaking stain and with more speed/pressure, sanded areas clean back to bare wood.

I purchased this to use on wood to remove old finishes, although it did do that pretty well, it would have been better if it contained some engrained abrasives to help with the job. For the price it will work and has held up fairly well during this testing. I do understand this is not what it was advertised as the primary use, so I am not disappointed with the product.
