Not sure whether the thermal paste is badly applied, or this laptop just sucks. But it has serious issues with overheating. I was consistently hitting temps of 90C+ and hit spikes of 98C quite a few times. The laptop shut down twice because it maxed at 100C. This is happening with the fan on MAX and the GPU set to NORMAL, not even overclocking.

For the money this a good laptop. I like the empty compartment for a 2.5 HDD. So far my only negative opinion about is the layout of the keyboard keys. The number pad is poorly designed and steps away from the standard layout as the number zero is one key space to the left than the Standard.

This computer would be decient if it wasnt for the constant blue screen of death (bsod) even after sending to acer for repair upon return 5 min into it the bsod shows it ugly face again acer was even kind enough to damage the screen and track pad prior to return

Chances are you know a bit about computers if youve made your way through all of the laptop options to this guy. If you are new to buying computers, I will break down some of the specs, what they mean, and what I feel their value is. If not, scroll to the end for my final thoughts.

My older son has the same Acer model and loves it. I bought this one for my other son to use for home schooling as a result of COVID19. Unfortunately the computer worked for about 3 hours then started making buzzing noises and crashed. I contacted Acer and went through a series of diagnostics to figure out the issue. They said it was either a hard drive or mother board problem and recommended I return it. The computer was returned it to the Amazon retailer March 30th. The good news is Amazon and their vendor lived up to their end of the bargain. My complete purchase price was refunded so that’s a good thing.

This system has handled everything Ive thrown at it, and the graphics are crystal clear. It does get hot (its a laptop), and it is loud when you put it under pressure (still a laptop). I havent put it on a cooling pad yet, but I always game with earbuds in, so the fan noise hasnt bothered me. If Im not gaming then its very quiet. Its so quiet when booting up that I question if its dead after hitting the power button. Everything starts up quickly, within ten seconds of turning on I can be browsing, and I havent had a single issue with it slowing down
