AfterShokz Aeropex - Open-Ear Bluetooth Bone Conduction Sport Headphones - Sweat Resistant Wireless Earphones for Workouts and Running - Built-in Mic

> 3 dayBone conducting sounds very exotic but its a little more usual than you might think. To get an idea: Grab a pair of decent on-ear headphones, place them on your temples so your ears are uncovered, and turn up the volume a bit. This is pretty much what Aftershokz sound and feels like. It makes you realize there is a bone conducting component to regular headphones. Similarly, there is still an aural component to these - if you have them sitting on a desk or hanging up, you can still hear them audibly over the air. For the price youre paying, youre getting a new usage experience rather than sound quality. Here are some examples: * Actual wet performance. Lots of headphones now have some kind of IPxx rating. While they arent damaged by water, that doesnt mean they *work* when wet. These do. You can listen to audio while dunking your head under the shower. Maybe thats not something youre going to do, but it means rain and sweat wont drown it out. Thats something Ive had happen plenty. * Isolation when you want it. ANC and a good seal are fine but they dont beat wearing actual earplugs IMO. I can put in some earplugs and still listen to a podcast while vacuuming my car or something - and I dont have to crank the volume. I think thats impressive. Still, some people cant do earplugs - OK, ANC is better for you. * Awareness when you want it. Things that need your attention can get it. That doesnt mean you can understand everything you hear. The effect is like having two people talk directly to you at the same time - hard to understand even one of them, and usually the loudest speaker wins. But youre aware at least. Those differences were pros in my opinion. Other pros: Long battery life, great power connector. Pretty good fit (for me - wife disagrees) as the device is small and stays firmly on my head. Also a pretty good mic set up - nobody has complained when Ive used these, unlike my other wireless headphones. Still, for best quality, wired is still the way to go. Cons are not insignificant: * Less audio quality for the money, to be sure. If you want audiophile equipment, move along. These cant provide it. If you just listen to podcasts and place phone calls, I think its A-OK. Also pretty good for providing background music while working. Admittedly, though Im not a music person, this is a little hard to get past. * Personally I hate the controls. On/off, volume, and pause are fine. Beyond that, Im struggling. My cheap plantronics phones are better here. * Bluetooth connectivity. I know Bluetooth isnt perfect and Windows 10 BT experience in particular leaves much to be desired. But comparing these to a cheap pair of plantronics phones, I expected more. The cheap pair connects faster, switches devices significantly quicker and both without as much manual intervention. This is personally my greatest point of dissatisfaction, as the Aeropex are five times the price. I really hope this thing can receive firmware updates to improve connection behavior. I gave these a try for 6 weeks and have decided to keep them, despite my reservations. It came down to the fact that, even with the shortcomings, I get a LOT of use out of them. Enough that I dont feel like rolling the dice on another product for now.

> 3 daySo it sounds great, but as others have said, the programmed beeps are too loud. I originally purchased hoping I could use this with orchestra and click track. However, the Bluetooth causes a lag. I really wish they made this particular headset with a wire and no microphone for musicians who have to use clicktrack but want to hear their surroundings fully.

> 3 dayThese would be a solid 5 stars EXCEPT for the fact that when two devices are connected, should you step away from one, the engineers decided they needed to make the most annoying thing ever - lets beep at the listener incessantly. I connect mine to my iPhone and my computer at my office - and then my computer at home when Im there. I regularly step away from my work computer and the beeping starts. When Im home and go for a bike ride or run, the beeping starts. THE ONLY way to stop it, is to turn off - then wait ... then turn back on, and start music / audio again. If the mfr is reading - PLEASE make it stop! These are wonderful for phone calls. But if I walk away from computer, the beeping happens through the rest of the call. I have no idea why they thought this was a good idea, definitely not a feature, but a very annoying bother that needs to go away. Otherwise, they are great and I wear them almost all day for phone calls, music and audio and can hear everyone that I need to. Great for my bike rides and walking. I just hope they can update it to stop the beeps.

Greater than one weekBought headphones. They were in their carrying bag inside my tote bag and one of the ear pieces broke off the head band piece. The silicone is intact but the inside structural piece is broken. None of that is important, but suffice it to say this is not heavy wear. My bag was picked up and put down, but nobody walked on it, threw it, used it to fend off a mugger, etc. Just your standard day. There is no contact number for Aftershokz. There is no real online customer service. And their Better Business Bureau grade is a D. There is a chain of work you have to do in order to submit a warranty claim on their website, but the second step is to register the product. There is no product registration page except for one for products bought before December, 2019. This entire process is designed to make the user give up because they assume its their own fault they cant correctly follow steps. I know, I studied these processes. Its part of nudge theory. Im willing to write off a $200+ loss, but I hope others can learn from my painful experience.
