AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor with Wraith Prism LED Cooler

Coming from an i3-4160, this is night and day for me, but be ready for a couple things.

I bought this CPU as to upgrade from my i7 4790k, not necessarily because I was expecting a huge performance increase but my 4th gen Intel chip was starting to show its age with compatibility issues. So I moved to a new b450 motherboard and the 3700X CPU. This Chip runs a bit hotter than Id expect it to (Although I am looking to upgrade to an AIO in the future to help with temps), it is a very capable chip, the temperatures whilst gaming arent too bad and it keeps up with the high end Intel chips in gaming, but the deciding factor for me was the price was £40-60 cheaper than the equivalent Intel CPU and it basically does everything other than Gaming better than Intel. AMD have really stepped up with this CPU and I dont really have much negatives to say, there are a few, such as the turbo clock issues with AMD chips and motherboards (research it before buying). This should be fixed by the time anyone is reading this review but make sure you compare at what matters most to you, and I enjoy my gaming but I enjoy streaming and recording also, which helped make my choice clear that Id go for an AMD CPU. With my previous Intel CPU streaming and gaming wasnt really possible as I would get stuttering from little bits of lag and it was noticeable enough to not be able to stream, with this new AMD CPU you still suffer from general FPS decrease (As does Intel) but it is a lot less worse, and I am not getting stuttering in any games in-fact. So it gets a huge thumbs up from me for this. I would recommend this CPU to others, I would say it easily hits a 8-9/10, the only downsides are that its not as powerful as a 9700k or 9900k, and the temps can be a bit higher than youd expect on Idle.

Great cpu and the cooler that comes with it is surprisingly good for an included cpu. Would recommend to anyone building a mid to high level pc

Amd..what more can you say? I have always been against the grain when Cyrix and Amd hit the scene. I always felt Intel was the crowd pleaser but the price did not please my pockets. The Ryzen does not disappoint. This chip to me is just what anyone needs that does gaming, moderate video editing, and music production. Best of all worlds in my opinion. Reminder AMD Ryzen does not support Win7 so get ready to upgrade if you have not.

I like to produce music as a hobby and my old computer was always lagging behind. The DAW would show 100+% CPU usage (I got no idea how its physically possible to use more than 100% of a CPU not overclocked)

I bought it in 2020, after 3 years work perfect.

This processor has been great and love gaming on AMD
