> 3 dayGood product; 3 stars however as I received a cpu that was pre-owned/used. The packaging was opened, and the chip inside had smudges of thermal paste.

> 3 dayInitially, I didnt want to buy the 5900X as the 5800X served me well enough, though the extra cores would have been a little useful. However, when the sale came, it was better than even when I got my 5800X and that wasnt my real motivator for grabbing this. The real point was that I needed a 3000 series to upgrade someone that I was paying them back for assisting me with something. I initially was checking for a decent 5000 series to upgrade them from, but I was concerned that the system may not handle well and while they didnt need anything gaming oriented, I still wanted to give some teeth where it needed while using a B350 board. So I settled with buying the 5900X to give the 5800X to my father in exchange for the 3600X that he had which was mine originally. Hence the minor step up.

> 3 dayThe best thing about the Ryzen processors is that you have a lot of upgrade options. If you purchased a 3600X, you can stick a 5950X in the same socket. Well, ok, that wont work with every motherboard but generally speaking Im very happy with the plug-and-play nature of AMD cpus over the last few years, its saved me a lot of money.

17-11-2024So I went from AMD 2700x to 5900x and I am happy, not only did it solve my ram speed issue (not being able to utilize over 3200 mhz) but stability issues and long term dormant PC issues. Works for me! Love the new performance on this rig I had originally planned with a 3000 series... this is by far better overall..
