American Marine PINPOINT pH Probe

I have used Pinpoint PH monitor for 15 years from saltwater aquarium to freshwater aquariums. The probes have always been easy to calibrate and last. However the probes from this company are temperamental and the bulb on the end always seem to break. After owning 2 of these now in ~18 months my opinion is they are of poor quality. And the package is poor, makes me think they are used. I would rather spend the extra money and get my probes direct from American Marine

Good value. Holds its calibration well and stabilises at a new reading fairly quickly. Its not a high priced unit so I did do a quick check on the accuracy. After calibrating with standard buffers at 7.0 and 10.01 I made up a pH 7.8 potassium phosphate buffer solution and the probe (with American Marine pinpoint pH meter) gave a reading 0f 7.79. Im a home user and only interested in the range from 7.0 to 9.0 so please bear that in mind when reading my review.

WARNING: Does NOT come with calibration fluid or instructions. It would be nice if they stated this in the description, as the item is useless without calibration fluid. It also does NOT come with instructions.

The probes dont maintain their accuracy forever and are expected to need to be replaced eventually. The new probe restored accuracy

My 2nd one. First one cracked after a short period of time. I was disappointed as I dont recall doing anything that may have caused it but it was just in the bottom of the sump. I now have a probe holder holding the second one and no issues to date. It did need to be calibrated out of the box when used with my Apex aquarium controller.

Always use this replacement probe. They hold up better and stay accurate.

HAVE TO REPLACE PROBE EVERY FEW YEARS, USED DAILY, GOOD PRODUCT

I bought this to use with a raspberry pi grove pi from Seeed Studio for a controller I am building. This works great with the Seeed Studio pH sensor kit. It gives accurate readings with it. I cant speak on how long it stays in calibration and to the level it stays calibrated. But so far it works great. The main thing is it will work with the raspberry pi board.

I have the monitor and the guardian monitor, both needed new probes, these were super cost effective, came packaged safely, plug n play, calibrated in a snap, and has held calibration as well as the OEM part did. (maybe better, as it was replaced, am i right?)
