ASA New VFR Kneeboard ASA-KB-1-A

Smaller and thinner than I thought, leg strap is iffy for a smaller leg board doesn’t stay in place easily. Otherwise, it’s convenient, information is clear and concise. Price is appropriate.

New pilot and so far it’s been great. I don’t really need all the stuff printed on it, but others may prove handy. Pretty great value.

Not much else to say -- performs as advertised. Used a clipboard before? Congrats, youll know how to use this high tech bit of kit! All the VFR info is a nice touch, but obviously a little hard to read once you have a notepad on it. It would be good to have in a pinch though. Overall it is about the size of an iPad Air/Pro 11 inch. I usually sit with the seat all the way forward in a C172 and the yoke has never hit it, even on takeoff/landing or in performance maneuvers like stalls.

I try to keep things as simple as useful in the cockpit. I don’t need a kneeboard with “features” I just need a solid mount to let me take notes. This kneeboard is perfect for that. The aluminum is thick enough to be solid but thin enough to be light. The pen holder in the elastic band is well placed, and the spring on the clip is strong but not too hard to open. The added VFR “cheat sheet” is handy without adding clutter or complexity. If you don’t need it you can ignore it. The elastic strap is perhaps a bit large for my thin thighs, but I’m pretty skinny. Otherwise, zero complaints.

This kneeboard is just what I needed. Should’ve had one years ago, even as a VFR pilot. Now that instrument training is about to start, it’s a necessity.
