Aveda Men Pure-Formance Grooming Clay 75ml/2.5oz

Aveda still tops the heap. Not the cheapest by any stretch but then, you get what you pay for with Aveda. No sticky goop in your hair, no ugly fruity smells either. Its an elegant product and makes me feel good when I use it. Dont know why they market it as a mens grooming clay? I see it as a unisex product, even nicer than the pomades designated for women.

I have tried so many pomades, clays and other similar products my head spins thinking about them. Avedas Grooming Clay is a wonderful product, but not without its shortcomings. First: This clay provides outstanding hold. Not stiff hold, just excellent mallable styling hold. The best part about this control as it does not fade throughout the day and withstands the near 100% humidity of the Gulf Coast. So for excellent control of shorter hair that lasts through the day, this is the product for you. Now for the shortcoming, at least for my use. I have a dirty brown hair, and prefer a slightly wet look with a bit of shine. Avedas Groom Clay leaves a straight matt finish, but with a ridiculous amount of experimentation, I have found a gel that mixes well with the Clay that gives me that bit of shine and wetness I was looking for without destroying the clays good properties.

I have fine, curly hair and this product, run through my hair before drying, adds volume and prevents frizz. Love the smell, too.

Great product. Normally buy at my barbers shop, but this was convenient and at a good price, since I wasn’t going back soon for a haircut.

This stuff works great when you need a light-to-moderate hold with low shine, even for thicker hair. It does have a scent similar to products that have tea tree oil in them, so if you dont like that smell, this grooming clay might not be for you. It doesnt seem very strong smelling to me and feels like it fades pretty quickly after using it, but your mileage may vary.

Works good and you dont need a lot.

Overall, an excellent product. Pros: Nice amount of malleable hold with good thickening effect. Doesnt make hair too sticky. Matte finish. Cons: Not crazy about the smell (wish someone would make a mens product that is unscented), although its not overbearing and Im starting to get used to it. Expensive - but you dont need a lot with each application. Other products tried: Personally (for my short-to-medium length, medium texture hair), it works better for me than the American Crew Fiber and the Bumble & Bumble Styling Creme.

My son won’t use anything else!

I like this product for a while (maybe 10 hours), but by the end of the day it seems to have lost any effect, and may actually make my hair look worse.
