Thumb drives have become one of the universally-accepted backup and file-sharing options for both PC and Mac users. Over the last 30 years, weve gone through a variety of data storage solutions. As an example, floppy discs and Zip drives have come and gone (in a variety of formats themselves). Data trapped on them today are difficult to read for finding viable hardware; they are also well past the devices stability point for keeping the data degradation and error-free. The USB Thumb drive continues to be viable for data storage and transfer between entities and machines. The drives are large enough that they are not too easily lost. Their size gives the ability to group great volumes of information together on the drives. They can be formatted in a number of different formats (FAT, exFAT, NTFS, and Mac OS Extended, depending on user need). I [personally have 10 hard drives connected to my computer and 27 other backup drives. These drives contain huge amounts of data, including old work data, family movies (a lot) music (more than a lot), digitized books, and more stuff than anyone should expect to have. But I do, and its all segregated by topic. That makes it better organized and an influx on one category doesnt push me onto the next hard drive prematurely and either split my collections or cause me to have to juggle data type between drives. PERFORMANCE: The AXE Memory 500 GB Solid State USB Drive is a high-capacity, fast thumb drive. This thumb drive comes with 465 GB available. A 1.76 GB file transferred averaged 136 MB/second and took less than 20 seconds. Its fast. Its USB 3.2 rated. Cost-wise, you can get a portable drive less expensively. The downside is that these use moving parts, which are subject to different kinds of wear and tear. For some users, this could serve as a complete backup for all of the data on their hard drives. For others, it can be combined with others to segregate that data or act as an archive for, say, all of their family videos. in any case, I like high-capacity drives because I know that I will have room later for additions, and not need to continually buy more and more high-capacity backup solutions and discard older ones. EVALUATION: The high-capacity USB Drive is a welcome addition to my backup solution. Data storage is about more than price. Speed and convenience are crucial. This one gives me a lot of power for the price.

Admittedly, this isnt the cheapest 500GB (465GB formatted on Windows 10) on the market, but the use of the SCSI protocol (UASP) makes this faster than most. On my system (which is not high end), I was able to see write speeds up to 280MB/s and I was able to transfer 176GB of data to this in under 30 minutes. Speeds did get slower as it heated up but stayed about 100MB/s. And speaking of heat, this did get hot during the transfer, but not untouchable, and it is a reminder that most flash drives do warm up under sustained use. I also really appreciate that the cap snaps in place and then fits on the back when in use so you dont use it. I cannot speak to longevity yet, but with any drive, a good backup system is always a must. This drive gets an A+ so far!

I know the line tiny yet powerful gets thrown around alot, but I mean it for real here. The 500gb storage on this drive Im trying matches my internal SSD in space, yet plugs into a USB and fits on my keychain! In other words, I can back up my entire drive C: and carry it around with me. Thats awesome. And the speed is super impressive over a USB3 connection, pretty close to the advertised speed (It is plugged into a hub for this test, so expect real world direct connection to be slightly higher). I can understand why some people might prefer a USB-C version of this for modern laptops, but the computers Im using all offer USB3 in the full size A port, so no complaints here. I knew what I was getting and was NOT disappointed!

It’s pretty awesome that this tiny Axe Memory SSD USB drive is 500GB (465GB actual). It seem speedy enough and was totally plug-n-play. I’ve never heard of this brand before, so I hope it will hold up, and I will come back and amend this review if it doesn’t. Stat for running under Windows 10 attached as a snip/screenshot. This is the 2nd or 3rd time I’ve been pleasantly surprised by a drive EXCEEDING the manufacturer’s claimed speeds in some way. The claimed speed is 600MB/s Read and 260MB/s Write but my CrystalDiskMark scores repeatedly show 450MB/s Reads and 440MB/s Writes. I’m more interested in fast Write speeds because read speeds are almost always “fast enough”. Disappointing to see it be significantly lower than 600MB/s on the Reads but the faster Writes offset that disappointment.. mostly. Build quality is plastic-ee and lightweight but solid feeling. Cap is detachable (clicks into place firmly) and can be attached the the bottom of the drive when not use. No status LED for power / activity but.. if it mounts it’s working, so no stars lost there. Also seemed to stay reasonably cool / warm during testing. Overall, it’s 250GB of fast, portable storage for under $50. It’s good value. Knocked a star off for it falling pretty short of the claimed 600MB/s Reads (testing on an Alienware M15 R4) but very happy with the Write speeds.

500g is amazing in this small affordable flash drive. Can hold various types of files and moves with ease. I like how simple it is and smalk and portable. Its a great value for the price and works just as youd hope. I use mine to transfer games and pictures.

    10.0 GBほどのファイルを転送しましたが速度の低下は認めませんでした。 大きさも大分小さくなったのでusbメモリに代わっていきそうですね。

Good capacity and good fast read/write speeds youd expect from USB 3.2 drive - around 400MB/sec.
