> 3 dayI had difficulty with getting this to work with an AV receiver with pass through to the TV. Its DOES work directly connected to the TV with sound coming over the TV speakers rather than av receiver. Its only stereo sound anyway. Sometimes I have no sound, usually from a cold start when the TV and n64 have both been off. I just toggle back and forth between inputs once the console is on and displays an image and after a few toggles with the remote between hdmi 1, 2, 3, etc when I return to the hdmi input this is on Ill get sound. Honestly this is tolerable. Its probably a quirk of the analog to digital chipset used. Picture quality is fine. 16:9 mode stretches things a bit but its not as bad as I thought itd be. I did notice after a few hours the plastic housing of little converter was surprisingly warm. To me this indicates the analog to digital converter chip was probably extremely warm given I could feel the heat through air and plastic. Out of curiosity I cut a hole in the case and applied a small heatsink (see photo) to the main chip. It provides no tangible benefit or upgrade to the function of the device. Its not like it makes to picture clearer or anything. It does seem to dissipate a lot of heat though so it provides peace of mind that this device wont burn out after a month. Cooler electronics last longer than hot electronics. Its not necessary to do this though. It doesnt seem to automatically turn off when the n64 is off, its still warm to the touch. So I just unplug it from the 5v micro usb power when not in use. Auto power off and on would be nice but its a small gripe Overall Im just happy to play n64 again, without needing to keep an old school crt TV around.

> 3 dayWorks great and comes with the cables you need, and also has a switch to change from the original screen ratio to 16:9 (doesn’t actually change it, stretches screen to be 16:9)

> 3 dayThere are 2 issues i have with this product. First is that you have to toggle between 4:3 and 16:9 after powering on your device in order for it to transmit audio. Second is it gets really hot. Aside from that this thing works great

05-06-2025So this product works sometimes. Ive used this for 2 weeks and ran through all the trouble shooting about 5 times I got it to work once with my TV but its just too annoying when it doesnt work. It keeps Blue screening and trying to figure out if its AV or SV honestly it might be because I have a very new TV but I really cant recommend this product

> 3 dayPlugging in the micro usb is a bit inconvenient but works like a charm when the AV plug in isn’t an option.

> 3 dayI know there are upscalers available that do a better job than this, but you’ll pay more for them than the console. I’ve never used one of those fancy jobs and probably never will because I’m just a casual gamer. I have tried several other converters though, and this one is by far the best I’ve found. IMO, unless you run a N64 YouTube channel or something like that, this is the best and more valuable solution.

Greater than one weekWeve kept all our Nintendos. I guess we have all of the old cartridge based ones. Theres just something intangible about playing the real Super Mario Brothers on an old NES, or Ocarina of Time on an N64. The N64 in particular, with its oddball controller, is a great experience for my family. They still dont really have anything like 4 player Goldeneye. The real problem is that I dont have a TV with the older connections, RCA, composite, S-Video. I actually have been using a really old adapter for coaxial cable but this isnt 1985. With this adapter I can just use HDMI on any monitor or TV or projector in the house. Finally, I can enjoy crisp, reliable, hassle free video from my N64 or Super Nintendo. After playing for many hours at a time, this unit doesnt get too warm, doesnt have any flickering or other problems, and just seems to work. I have no reason not to expect it to work for years. Setup is easy. You do need to plug the USB charger in (which is basically a phone charger), and the Nintendos video cable, and the HDMI cable to your TV. Thats it. It just works from there. Manage your expectations. If youre playing SNES or N64 games emulated in native high resolution, you will be surprised that your old console doesnt actually make modern video resolutions. You might need to play with contrast and brightness, maybe even fit the picture to your TV Screen. I havent had any problems, but the quality of the picture is more or less the same as it was when I was a kid. I love it, but if you were hoping for a remastered version, perhaps you can buy that from Nintendo for their newer consoles. For the money its a reasonable value.

> 3 dayThis is incredibly nice for the price! Looks significantly better than the stock av cables. Also mine came with the usb cable, but functions perfectly without it, the Nintendo 64 runs at between 240p and 480p so its still gonna look blocky but this cleans the image up quite a bit. Good value over all

> 3 dayThanks to this converter, I can now play my Nintendo 64 on my new smart TV. This is easy to use and quick to install. The graphics look good enough for my needs. This won’t produce real high definition images of my old Nintendo 64 games, but I did not expect it to.
