Greater than one weekI bought this umbrella for commuting and paid more for it than I usually would pay for an umbrella, in the hopes that it would last for a long time. I used it twice and then tried to open it today and the top plastic part shot off and it will no longer stay open. Cheap quality and overpriced.

> 3 dayHave not yet used this in the rain but I researched umbrellas prior to purchase. It seems well made and the open/close mechanism appears to work well. I cant give it 5 stars because I havent had it out in rainy weather yet!

> 3 dayI like to keep an umbrella in my car for just in case. This packs up nice and small (even if it is a bit of a chore to get it back in its cover / case. Opens smooth and easy, and closes just the same. I like the mechanism in the canopy, it looks very strong, though I havent yet had a chance to test it on a windy day. The non-traditional umbrella shape is a real eye-catcher, too. Nobody looks at a regular umbrella. But the shape of this really stands out. Perfect for travel or to keep in the car, I dont think it gets much better in terms of umbrellas.

> 3 dayWhat I really like about this umbrella are the smooth tips. Its not going to poke someone in the eye on a crowded street or when your kids are using it etc. The other thing that is unique about this umbrella is that the top swivels freely from the handle. This takes some getting used to. At first I didnt like it, but its ok because this feature actually helps buffer the effect of strong winds. When it is open, this is about the same size as my expensive davek umbrella, although the davek umbrella collapses smaller for more compact travel. The grey color is very nice!

> 3 dayI like the rounded edges and it’s small size but it doesn’t pop down with the button,, only up. Very expensive for what it is.

> 3 dayI live in a place where it doesnt rain a lot. What often happens is, the forecast is rain and I cant find either of those umbrellas, where are they? And I end up out in the elements and buying a cheapo umbrella from the CVS, using it 4 or 5 times and the tips of the spokes/ribs start to rip through the rim of the umbrella, or the kid tries to open and close it a bunch of times and messes up the mechanism, or the handle breaks off, etc. Needless to say, we have a real motley collection of umbrellas. Which is why its so exciting to have the chance to test out this Blunt umbrella. I guess they call the diameter of the umbrella the canopy. This is a 38 canopy, which is not super small, but its really a 1-person deal.... two people that are very comfortable together could duck heads under it, but walking a block or two that way might be tricky. Walking with the child through the parking lot from the car to the inside of the school or other building would be fine. Im especially excited about the blunt rib ends and the double-lining over them. This and seemingly every other part of this umbrella was designed thoughtfully. From the slip-case to the material, to the reinforced open-close mechanism and more, Im super-impressed with this umbrella. Although I dont think Ill have to deal with it defying heavy downpours and gale-force winds of up to 55 mph (I hope!)... I just have to make sure to put it somewhere where I can find it easily when it rains a month from now!!
