While doing a research for my first skates ,I fell in love with the color combination of these skates and got stuck with them in mind already. After reading many reviews and even tho there are more known brands out there I took a risk and ordered them. Im so happy with my decision. They look awesome! I havent started skating, dont know the quality yet. Only problem was for size 6 skates, the wheels dont turn smoothly. I assume they can be fixed. (My USA shoe size is 6.5 UE is 37 and 9.3 . First ordered 7. They were big. I ordered 6 and they fit like a glove. )

I like that the skates have cushion and are not a hard boot but the sizing didn’t work. I ordered a 8 and it was small (I’m a size 8) and I ordered a 9 and it was different than the size 8 as far as comfort it was uncomfortable and both skates rubbed against foot so it cause foot to hurt. Other than that the skates are nice but the sizing didn’t work. Also, the 9 skate wheel was messed up.

I ordered a size 12 in the green color. I was so hopeful- these are so cute, and the reviews are glowing I read many reviews to get a feel for fit and the manufacturer recommendation which told me to go with my usual shoe size so I did. These are too small. According to the size chart and actual measurements, I should order the size 14! Thats crazy... But the MOST disappointing thing is that now the color options are gone. I can get black or grey. Hey manufacturers - women with large feet want the cute colors too. I dont understand why a few centimeters means less options. It sucks... I am tired of being left out because of my shoe size. For a company that touts made by women for women, they still missed the mark...

I was unsure about buying a skate brand that I’ve never heard of but I took a chance because I wanted to buy suede skates to be light on my feet. I read the reviews and felt confident it would be ok. I recently tried impala skates and they hurt my feet terribly and were heavy. When I got these skates I immediately loved the color. I slid my foot into the boot and it was heaven! It cushioned my entire foot and there was no discomfort anywhere at all. The wheels were so bouncy and smooth when skating! I used to feel pain in my shins and arches with other skates but these did not trigger those pains. I’m so happy with my purchase!

Skates arrived with no scuffs or dark marks like other reviewers have mentioned. However, the eyelets that touch the tongue when you lace them up do cause marking, so I wouldn’t be surprised if some come with marks on them. I imagine suede cleaner will take this out easily and I recommend getting that in advance. They seem to be a good quality for the price. Also, definitely make sure you have a skate tool when you purchase as these do not come with one. I had to loosen and adjust everything which is to be expected. The boots themselves are very comfortable everywhere (no blisters!) except for the insert. It feels rock hard after skating for a bit. Definitely buy some good inserts to make them more comfortable. I would also recommend toe guards to protect the suede. The toe stops seem pretty decent and same for the wheels. Definitely good for a beginner skater outdoors. Eventually I will go for slightly harder and smaller wheels to work on tightening my spins and turns, but for getting used to outdoor skating and uneven surfaces they’re fine. The plates are nylon so these are not the skates for skateparks where you’re grinding or dropping into a bowl as they can snap. I did a roll test upon receiving them and one of my skates is perfectly straight and the other pulls in one direction a bit. I’m still playing with the cushions to see if maybe I can get it better, but it’s definitely something to be aware of. All in all, with a few adjustments and minor tweaks these seem to be pretty quality skates for general outdoor skating and some jam skating. They fit my needs perfectly.

I have a lot of feet troubles and I have wide feet. A lot of skates are very stiff with a tad too narrow of a toe. Being a newbie to skates I didnt want to spend a ton. These were on sale so I decided to give it a chance. They were so supple and soft inside and out. They are sueded on the inside. They might be more of an intermediate skate just because theres a lot of flexibility. I dont know how to use them quite yet as far as how very responsive they are. But if you need a comfortable skate for a wide easily pained foot, this is the skate.

Disclaimer: I’m a novice skater. Also, I’ve been skating in my BTFLs for less than a week. These Skates go above and beyond for the price point. This boot is super soft, comfortable and flexible. It’s seems comparable to the Moxi Lolly boot as far as fit and quality. I can’t speak on durability yet. As a person with long legs and poor squatting ability, flexibility in the ankle means being able to bend the legs easily AND keep the torso in an upright position rather than heavily leaning forward. It’s feels safer to me. If you’re feeling unstable, you can always tighten the trucks. Or if you want maximum stability to land jumps or you prefer the skatepark I think a stiff boot is generally recommended. I replaced the plate, trucks and bearings before trying so I can’t speak on those. But the wheels are very decent gummy/outdoor wheels good for cruising and very pretty. The laces are great and I love the large heel tabs that make these so easy to carry. More skates should have them! Cons: You’ll probably need to replace the insoles. They’re paper thin and hard but that’s a very affordable fix. These skates don’t come with a tool which you do need to at least loosen the wheels a little. All in all, these skates are seriously a steal. I can’t afford the price of Moxi Lolly’s or the guilt of real suede Hahahaha UPDATE: Two years later of mostly park skating These skates are still in pretty good shape for all they’ve been through. I will definitely be purchasing the same pair once mine finally give out. The boot is still EXTREMELY comfortable. If you want ankle mobility, these are a dream. The right toe has broken open a little but that’s what happens when you don’t wear toe guards, especially at the skate park. My laces also broke. Not from normal wear or poor quality, but from repeatedly sliding down concrete transitions.

Im getting back into skating after a 25 year hiatus. Call it menopause, midlife crisis, quest for youth...I dont care. Its great fun exercise and Im loving it. The living room carpet is rolled up and the disco ball is on its way. Heres real review of these skates: Im normally an 8-8 1/2 and originally ordered a 9 based on other reviews. The boot was HUGE. I returned it and got an 8. While its a bit snug now, its going to stretch out. Apparently have wide feet for roller skates, not in my regular shoes. Ive tried other skates and these are it! Theyre REALLY comfortable. My feet dont hurt at all and theres no real need to break them in. The insole is nice a cushy. The boot is stitched well. I will probably change out the bearings, wheels (for some that arent rounded and sparkle) and laces just for a pop of color. They appear to be real suede inside and out and nicely padded. Youll definitely need a skate key to adjust the wheels. They show up super tight and barely spin. Once theyre adjusted, its a smooth nice ride.

I love these skates. I’m a beginner and they are comfortable, no break-in needed. I wear a 7-1/2 women’s shoe and the Womens US size 8 fits me perfectly. The wheels are grippy (80A’s) so they’re great for outdoors. They look super stylish too.

After I replaced the cushions, what an improvement. They are a little soft for me.

About us

BTFL boards & skates started in 2015 as a longboard brand made by girls for girls. A german team of young designers and experienced german technical specialists at BTFL create Roller Skates and Longboards made specifically for women’s body sizes and weights. The construction and individual technical features of the BTFL boards allow lighter, more petite riders to cruise comfortably on their BTFL longboards. These make it easier for beginners to learn, and also give advanced riders the chance to go to their limits. We’ve decided to adopt the successful formula from our longboard product range for our roller skate line. We provide roller skates with specific designs and technical features which were developed with a focus on high-quality materials and a good fitting. Our skates are available in a variety of colors and sizes.
