I have used Buffalo NAS drives for years without any issues. Needed ssd storage for flac files for my vehicle sound system. This drive is bullet proof so far. I have thousands of songs and still have boatloads of storage. Even got it on a flash sale for cheap.

So Im starting to understand a little bit better the value of getting an SSD even if it is an external one. The power requirements for mechanical driver pretty much heart wrenching especially when youre transferring drive to drive . This little puppy is very smooth, and Im really glad for it. I still have a say it a hard drive in the USB enclosure and that still goes fast but if I put any more than that drive on a USB hub it tends to disconnect randomly. This SSD is much better.

REASONABLY PRICED AND EASY TO USE EXTERNAL SSD BACKUP

I just got this a couple of days ago, so time will tell how durable it is. So far I was able to transfer the data for the PS 4 games with no issues, so I’m happy. As for the other reviewer telling people to format it on their computer first before using it on their PS 4/5 - that’s a lot of bull. YES, it needs to be formatted so that your consoles will be able to use it, but both the PS 4 & the PS 5 can do that for you in under a minute - NO COMPUTER REQUIRED! Just go into your settings, to storage, external storage and you can format it there. It will give you a warning that formatting will delete any files on it (so if you used it for storing something and need it, either copy it to some other form of storage or use another source of memory storage). Mine was brand new, so I let the PS 5 format it, and afterwards was able to move all the PS 4 game data to it (that took longer than formatting the stick, but not that long - I don’t have many games, lol).

Let me start by saying that for the price I paid, I was whole heartedly expecting this thing to be horrible, but I was wrong. I am so glad I gave this seemingly no name brand a try, as this is better than 98% of the USB drives available by known brand names. I cringed when I plugged it into my computer not knowing what to expect, and once recognized, drivers installed and it opened a new window I was delighted to find it has a full usable 1.81TB of storage space (in one contiguous block). I then proceeded to back up all of my data between 9 of my computers, and the slowest data write speed was 26MBPS, however it was on an old laptop computer that was dying, and I was barley able to boot it into safe mode to recover data; on my hp elite desk mini, I plugged it into a USB 3.0 port and started downloading data, about 500 GB of data and it only took about 3 min to transfer, it peaked at .99GBPS but averaged 600MBPS. BLOWN AWAY! HIGH QUALITY! GO BUFFALO! If your reading this review and still questioning if you should buy this because of the brand name, let me give you some good advice, coming from the IT guy for a company. BUY IT YOU GOOF! In my opinion this is the best value for USB storage on amazon.

Arrived in working order. But the transfer speed seems ancient. Im currently transferring about 60gb to it, and its going to take 30 minutes, at 35-40 MB/s. Fair warning. Still happy with the sale price, though.

Nice unit. Plugs into USB 3.0 no problem. I have three.. Works with Linux (Ubuntu) as EXT4. No need for power brick. Honors shutdown (power down) command. Doing that puts device in standby reducing power requirements and runs cooler. Nice white activity led. Not much larger then a USB flash drive.

If speed is something that you need I would say its still pretty good but doesnt go the speed advertised. Its slower but it still does the job and is very easy to carry with you on the go. Would still recommend for the price but if speed is what your looking for there are better SSDs but this one is good for the price its at.
