Carib Sea ACS00223 African Ivory Coast Sand for Aquarium, 20-Pound

Wasnt too happy the sand was leaking all over the post office floor, as well as the walk home with 40lbs each trip. Luckily 3 bags were good. Hoping for a refund on 4th bag as i lost most of it walking home and on the post office floor

Love this stuff. Looks excellent in my tank.

Its what its supposed to be sand, rinse it well before you use it preferably non-chlorinated water, its black and white Sahara colored sand.

Doesnt loom like the picture shown. Came as crushed rock and shells of various sizes. If it came in larger size rock and shells it would be better deal i think

5/27/19-I had bought this before for my short 40g fry tank . So I bought one for my tall 55g I love how they look but it seemed to stress out the fish when first added. It does get cloudy but on my 40g that went away completely in about a week, but I did forget to rinse the substrate. I rinsed this one thoroughly and did a 75 % WC on 55g and it got rid of most of the cloudiness. It looks pretty good, 2hrs later. Hopefully I dont lose any fish. Keeping peacocks. The black gravel isnt bad, and it usually sinks to the bottom or middle of the substrate to ensure proper bacteria colonization Im guessing. Ive had all home depot sand before about 3 to 4 inches thick and would get dark spots if you didnt clean it on a weekly basis and move the sand around to get benificial bacteria to the bottom of the sand, that was a pain in the a..

I don’t have fish yet for it but I cleaned a smaller amount of sand in the sink in a clear bowl until it was almost clear by just turning/folding the sand in running water. The bag has directions to cut both corners and insert a hose so it can be cleaned that way but that would be really heavy.

I received my sand today - took 1/4 of the bag- put it in a pail and flushed it with the sprinkler on the hose. Just let the bucket fill up and drain itself - moving the sand around the bottom of the pail as the water rushes through and within a few minutes it was clean and the water ran clean. It is very dirty and cloudy when you first start the wash. BUT the beautiful sand your left with is well worth it. It is just gorgeous and will be the base in my globe air fern terrariums. To me this unusual sand is well worth the cost and the effort to clean it up for use. Great buy, and it came faster then expected.

I love it!!!!! Is the perfect grain of sand that I’ve been looking for. I have this in my all of 7 cichlid tank from 10 gallon to 125 gallon. It does takes some times to washed it, but after, the result, I was extremely happy with the sand I got!!!!!! I love the black and white look and my cichlids seems to love it too. I would recommend it.

Amazon send the fist set of bags and 2 were open and a lot of the sand was lost in shipping , amazon send me 2 other bags for free. I love the salt and pepper look of this sand, so far after 7 water changes the ph is stable at 8.0 Perfect for my Africans cichlids

Package came damaged with contents leaking out. Looks nothing like the picture in the description, its fine sand, not gravel as shown
