Enjoyed the laughter offered while watching this movie; knowing it was based on actual events made it more enjoyable

I managed to avoid seeing this for a DOZEN years! The trailer itself makes me woozy. Now that I have a child (8) were always looking for family-friendly schtick. He loves the stuff. So, of course he enjoyed the movie. If one can see it as a cartoon, then its fine. For some reason, I find that the movie takes itself too seriously---or that it tries to pass as believable--that life is like this---that life with 12 kids is like this. I can go with the most absurd premise so long as its clear that its ridiculous and the audience isnt underestimated. I just dont feel that way about this flick. Ive recently come to find out that this director has also done all of the Night at the Museum movies. Again, my son loves these. Again, I (mostly) detest them. Some parts are clever, but theyre just too abusive of anything goes. Anyone can go with an unbelievable idea/premise or two, but a good story must then stick to its own rules and not keep making junk up. I used to tell friends I have a stack of Get Out of Movie Jail Free cards. Any film can use two or three, and if the movie is spectacular, it can have a few more. These movies just use up these cards BY THE DOZEN!

It might not be a ROTFL every minute, but this movie is a safe bet if you are looking for a movie for family night. Steve Martin is as good as usual and the story has some heart to it.

I know a lot of people think this type of movie has no substance but why must everything we watch have meaning? I love Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt together and this is a great pick me up movie for those times you just want to laugh w/out having to analyze the plot!

Very silly, slap stick humor. Kid friendly without profanity. Nothing like the book! Was an enjoyable family movie for one night.

I recommend if you have slightly older kids (not toddlers or very young). There is some content that isnt ideal, but all in all, its a good and fun family movie with some good themes and values represented.

Love the cast of characters, very cute, crazy, fun. Always on the go, no down time. Steve Martin is great in this role. One of the best family movies of its time.
