Checksoft Personal Deluxe

Still working on figuring out everything but it seems to work and print nicely. I like the checks and the software seems to work to my advantage. Still working on the quicken end but it is not too hard.

If you have the correct version, Checksoft works well. Ive been using it for years to print checks from Quicken in one pass. However when I upgraded to Quicken 2010, my old version of Checksoft wasnt compatible. Avanquest tech support told me I needed to buy the latest version. I went to an office supply store and purchased a new copy. NOWHERE on the box does it state which version it is! But it does say it will work with current and previous versions of Quicken, and to check with Avanquest for updates when newer versions of Quicken are released. They also have a 30 day money back guarantee. Heres the catch! After much emailing and finally telephone calls, I discovered that: The money back guarantee requires that you pay to ship the product back to Avanquest, and they will reimburse the purchase price, but not any sales taxes collected! 2. If they do agree that you are entitled to a Free update, you still need to pay $7.95 for shipping! Apparently you cant download an update, perhaps because most of what comes on the DVD is Clip-art! If you need this software, buy it directly from (gag) Avanquest. You will need to search their site for the cheaper Personal Deluxe Edition, as the only direct link is to the more expensive Home and Business version! Avanquest needs to put the version information on the OUTSIDE of the box! They also need to be clear about what an update will cost. I doubt I will ever buy any more software from Avanquest.

I installed it today, and I uninstalled it today. I bought it simply to print my own checks. Thats it. Nothing more. I would have been fine had that been the only feature that actually worked. But it did not. I got through the check design steps with no problem. I found it odd there was no actual save button for the design I created. Somehow it managed to save the template I designed. Here is where it all fell apart. Each template prints a little differently, north, south, east, west of the paper perforations. The adjustment tool is pre-guess work, totally in the blind. 9 checks, 3 to a page and I finally got one to line up. When I went to create my second design, none of the first adjustments applied and I was right back were I stated, wasting paper. I have been in Information Technology for 35 years. I know when to cut and run. Not worth the aggravation. Oh, and it stopped responding and hung twice. No, nothing is wrong with my PC, its the Checksoft software.

Started out fine. The next day my computer tells me I cannot run this app on the computer. Loaded program but cannot even find it today. Waste of time and waste of money!

Could not get to load properly, just does not work. I am of course past my Amazon return date...

Different than the older version so took a bit to dial in but all good.

If all you want to do is print a blank check to write out by hand, Check soft is for you. If you are a Quicken user wanting to print checks using your Quicken program, set aside most of the day to design your checks and pick your style so that they print correctly using Quicken. The days of simply entering your check information and hitting print from Quicken doesnt exist with Checksoft. You are required to design your checks using templates. There are NO templates for check paper. You have to select a template and then erase all of the background details just to start. If you want to print the payees name and address on the check as well, you will be required to redesign the entire check. I spent 1 hour on the phone with Checksoft before they were able to explain how to do it. There was NOTHING in the help menus to get you to the windows the tech took me to. This has to be the most unnecessarily difficult and convuluted software I have EVER used! Next time.... Its Versa Check! If you have several bank accounts, be prepared to repeat this process for each one!

Worst experience Ive ever had trying to use, setup this program. 1st time in 30yrs of using and setting up computers, that I find this product dificult to understand, not user friendly, and trying to get support next to impossible. Its in the trash! BUYER BEWARE!

This is the most aggravating program Ive tried to run. It is definitely not user friendly when it comes to the install. Then if you want to call for support you have to pay for it. I just brought the program, why do I have to pay for support?! When I finally got it installed, now it wont open! This was the biggest waste of time and money!
