> 24 hourI bought my Coway back in October of 2019. At the time we lived in an apartment that was right outside a freeway and our air was disgusting. After getting the Coway, every two weeks Id end up having to vacuum a significant amount of soot off the Coways metal screen filter and the carbon filter. Before using the Coway, it was easy to see (with a flash light at night) how much stuff was floating in the air. After using the Coway, the air was clean. The unit ran on the medium setting basically 24/7 for 3 years before we moved to a nicer place with cleaner air. By the end of that 3 years, the unit was pretty gross with dust built up on the exhaust grill and right inside of it, and after the move I partially disassembled the unit and gave it a very thorough cleaning and its as good as new. I figure this unit will last for the rest of my life at this point, seems like a solid and extremely effective model and the high price was definitely worth it. This is a great unit if you have dogs that shed. It picks up a lot of hair on its own just running in your home, but its most useful when brushing my dogs. Lying my corgi right in front of it, turning the fan on high, and using a furminator to remove his loose undercoat... the hair removed just gets sucked right up into the Coway and is held there until the brushing session is done. No real need to vacuum the floor after, and such easy clean up! Cant understate how great this is.

> 24 hourQuietly clears the air of irritating particles. I wake without stuffiness. The only complaint is that the light on the unit that reports air quality is annoying when trying to sleep so I cover it with a towel.

> 24 hourUntil you use this hepa filter! I’m amazed at how well this works, how it automatically turns up or down based on air quality, how quiet it is at low setting, and how quickly it cleans the air! Very user friendly product, very happy so far! I can see why NY Times Wirecutter recommended it so highly!

> 24 hourI got my first Airmega back in September, and I snagged a 2nd one thanks to a Black Friday deal in mid-November. Obviously, I really liked the first unit which we use in our living room. It cleans the air on the same level as my old Rabbit Minus A2 which is now approaching 14 years old (for real, I just checked my order history here since I bought it on Amazon in 2009 ), and the Rabbit looks and runs like new (Im amazed how well it has held up). However, unlike the Rabbit, this Coway Airmega has much more affordable filter replacement options and has the added benefit of turning the ionizer on/off. I usually like to keep it on myself (makes the air smell crisper), but it is nice to have the ability to toggle it on/off. Seemingly able to clean as well as my Rabbit and operate at a similar noise level, I didnt see the need to spend hundreds more on another brand. About the noise: the Airmega operates at a very acceptable noise level when on level 2. I keep it there for the most part since its not loud while still moving a ton of air (blows your hair up if you lean over it). If were vacuuming and cleaning, I bump it up to the max, and it sounds more like a vacuum cleaner at that level. Fine by me since you can feel its moving a massive amount of air, and thats what I want when were cleaning and dust is flying, my dogs dander and hair is getting shaken up into the air, etc... this thing has resulted in nearly no dust in the living area around it. It really sucks up the junk floating about. It isnt the prettiest thing in the world but you could absolutely do worse, and at least it has a fairly slim profile. Were able to tuck it behind a recliner where you dont even see it (in a corner), and thanks to the low noise level, no visitors even realize its there. The lowest level is extremely quiet, but it moves such little air, I cant imagine it being useful. Thats the curse with all these units, even my much more expensive Rabbit. Whisper quiet at low levels is nice, but if I can feel more air pressure exhaling out of my nose than from whats coming out of the unit, Ill opt for a bit more noise. The reason I listed this as 2 stars is because on one hand, I couldnt bring myself to putting it at 1 star given how great the filtration is and the low noise from the unit. Those are huge positives for me and especially given the price point. But, what kills this for me is an apparent lack of support by the manufacturer. I found that out recently when I accidentally tore a hole in the pre-filter, meaning the piece that comes with the unit and is washable, not the filters that you buy as a pack and replace as needed. The pre-filter is apparently not sold by anyone on earth other than Coway, and despite having it listed on their website, its been sold out for weeks. I suspect much longer since I see reviews here mentioning the exact same problem. I contacted their support on the website, asking when will this be back in stock? I was sent a robotic, unhelpful response, a scripted paragraph about how my order (I dont have an order, thats kind of the issue here...I want to make one) will end up canceled if the out of stock item does not end up coming back in stock, and that they dont know when or IF the item will ever come back in stock. It reads like a very generic message they send for any questions about out of stock items, so I really dont know if this is an indication they never plan to produce more pre-filters or....maybe they randomly will one day and by luck Ill open the website at that exact moment to happen to buy one before its gone again? Yeah, that kills it for me. If I cant get another pre-filter, Im not going to keep replacing the replaceable filters. Ill get another air purifier that has actual manufacturer support. The whole point of the pre-filter is that it serves to collect the big stuff coming in to your purifier before it hits your replaceable filters. With a gaping hole in my pre-filter, all kinds of stuff is getting sucked right in and up against the replaceable filters, both reducing air flow and killing the life of my filters (and making them less effective). Simple little hole, big problem. My Rabbit Minus A2 pre-filter, on the other hand, is original. Its never torn a hole, and Ive cleaned it who knows how many of times, not necessarily gently either. Its far superior to the quality of the Airmega pre-filter. Will the Airmega even turn on 14 years from now? Ill never know since Ill have disposed of it well before then. So, as much as I love this unit, I dont love this brand, and Ill move on once my filters expire. Theres better, more dedicated brands out there who will gladly continue to sell you replacement parts for as long as youll buy them.

> 24 hourthis air purifier is a product with balanced performance. It performs well in air purification and offers convenient features. However, it has limitations in terms of noise levels, filter lifespan and cost, as well as coverage range. If you are seeking a well-rounded air purifier with basic functionality, it may be an option worth considering. Positive aspects: 1. Air purification effectiveness: The Coway Airmega AP-1512HH with its true HEPA filter performs well in filtering out dust, pollen, and other fine particles from the air. It effectively improves indoor air quality, especially for those who are sensitive to allergens. 2. Auto mode and air quality monitoring: The air purifiers auto mode and air quality monitoring feature adjust the fan speed automatically based on the detected indoor air quality. This is convenient for busy individuals as it adjusts automatically as needed. 3. Design and operation: The Airmega AP-1512HH has a sleek and user-friendly design. It features an intuitive control panel and easy-to-replace filters. Additionally, its moderate size allows for placement in various rooms. Negative aspects: 1. Noise levels: While this air purifier operates relatively quietly on low speed, it produces noticeable noise on high speed. This may be bothersome for individuals who require a quiet environment. 2. Filter lifespan and cost: The filters have a relatively short lifespan, and the cost of replacing them is relatively high. This may add some financial burden for long-term usage. 3. Coverage limitations: The air purifiers coverage is suitable for medium-sized rooms, but it may have limitations in large rooms or open spaces regarding air purification effectiveness.

> 24 hourHave been battling with the good ol blocked and runny nose here in the Alps for a while now so decided to research air purifiers a bit. Yes, I would not have imagined ever needing one in Switzerland, with the crisp bottled air gently flowing through your nostrils and down your throat like some kind of gaseous honey, but somehow the change of seasons make the year-round smorgasbord of flowers just explode with pollen, hacking away at nose-hairs with tiny little swords and attacking my pure innocent sinuses. Its nasty. So as all modern day hunter gatherers do, I used my corporate facilities to hunt down and order the most promising device for keeping these little pollen and dust villains at bay, which seemed to be a toss-up between the Blue air 403 and the Coway AP-1512. I decided on the Coway for three reasons – Firstly People In The Know About Unseen Things In The Air (PITKAUSITA) seemed to rave about; Secondly it was easy to drag around the house and didn’t look like a giant 1992 80286 desktop PC (but more on that later as it had me fooled); and lastly because its ongoing maintenance, such as filters etc, seemed a bit more affordable in the long run. Mission accomplished I ordered with international delivery via USA (as somehow you cannot seem to get these Coways anywhere in Europe) and eagerly awaited my pollen and dust busting Chuck Norris, following his travels around the world with one eye while also tracking my power transformer/converter (for 240 to 110 downscaling) with the other, in a very chameleon like multitasking fashion. The Coway arrived first and without much fuss in a nondescript brown box (kudos to Amazon logistics), but when I peeled it out of that boring box, the real butterfly emerged. The actual box was covered in pictures of happy people and performance promises, and after oo-ing and aa-ing at that for a bit and wiuth new levels of expectation, I ripped it open (gently) and the gasped as the Conway emerged like a shiny new high Russian matryoshka doll. Somewhere someone said it looks like an old iPod but to me it looked more like an iPod Shuffle slinked off and had a steamy time with a big glossy subwoofer and that this was the result. Very glossy thing, rounded edges, secret doors and latches, well constructed. It will not look out of place in the Fifth Avenue Apple store, parked next to your Rolls Royce or in an audiophile sound room. Yes yes it is plastic, very lightweight, and the Coway logo looks like a retired alcoholic stencilled it on while steering around the Arc de Triomphe. On a bicycle. Think cobblestones. Blinded by cigarette smoke. At night. Moonless night. Maybe tricycle. But I wanted something that is easy to move and didn’t let the brand font type decide my future health and if it bugs you I recommend you stick the Apple sticker you got with your MacBook Air over it. Oh and then sell it on eBay for mega dollars. But ok I’m getting carried away and can imagine you saying “…but HonestH, what did it work like?...”. To be honest I had no clue. I didn’t feel like forcing square pins into round holes and upsetting my day so packed it away for the next week while waiting for my well-travelled transformer/converter thingy. And when it arrived what a day it was… By that time I’ve had already read the instruction booklet a few times and unwrapped the filters (which I highly recommend unless you want to get to know the local fire brigade intimately) so I just plugged it into the power thingy and fired it up, ready to explore the new world it would open to me. It didn’t even splutter or hesitate, but just uttered a sweet chime-like angelic melody (luckily only lasting for a second) and a big blue light lit up on the top. Now standing a bit closer (but not close to the transformer/converter thingy yet as it hummed ominously) I could feel the clean fresh air bursting out of the top of it. Wow. No sound yet air blowing. I’ve had dozens of fans sounding like pegs in a bicycle wheel and always fiddled with them, smacked them, put little match-sticks in, put them upside down, put them sideways, etc etc just to eventually drive them to the outdoor shooting gallery and take a 12 gauge to them. But this little fellow was quiet as nun’s… quiet as a graveyard. So let’s fast forward a bit to three weeks later… I have dragged this little fellow around my whole house and can state with confidence that it works as advertised. I have pumped it up to full speed, which is rather fearful as it takes a few seconds to build up full speed and then it feels like you are standing next to a vortex about to suck you in and spit you out in who-knows-where-I-just-hope-its-got-a-nice-beach. I have spent many nights sleeping next to it. I have used it to clean building dust after a whole nest of seemingly lost plumbers destroyed one of our bathrooms. I have used it in the kitchen. I have used it to annoy my wife during our eternal struggle for house domination. I have even tried to use it as a vacuum cleaner on a lazy day. So herewith my findings and feedback to some other user comments: It is very good at purifying the air in any room and leaves it feeling and smelling crisp and clear It is easy to move because it has a convenient little carry grip It’s not bad at removing odours. It sometimes stands in our open kitchen/lounge area and gets very militant when it smells onions or some other cooking Have used it various times in the kitchen to get rid of onion or fondue smells and it definitely helps. Easy to maintain and clean the filters It does not in fact hoover your whole house including the floors from dust but does seem to make an impact on how quickly dust accumulates The sensor is very sensitive and kicks the Coway into overdrive… I have experienced this a few times with the builders destroying our one bathroom and kicking up clouds of dust . It is fearful when the sensor eye goes red and the machine goes all HAL 9000 on you. This usually only lasts for a few seconds but hold onto something heavy. Room for improvement: Can have little rubber feet Started to develop a slight tik-tik-tik sound which is audible because the thing is so darn quiet For Pete’s sake just change the logo…

> 24 hourDoes a good job of getting the particles out of the air in my bedroom. Before I started using this device I could see all the dust in the air (I live in the desert) in the morning sunshine coming through the windows. I can definitely tell a difference now and I breathe easier at night.

> 24 hourI like the eco mode best where the filter senses the air quality and only turns on when the air quality gets bad. I can just leave it on eco mode and not think about it again. Highly recommend!

> 24 hourYou can just tell the air is clean. Its in the master bedroom, approx 300 sqft. I am allergic to a dog we got for the family after having dogs most of my adult life prior to having kids. Immune systems change....so this thing helps during sleep and when in the bedroom in general for my eyes. I have zero respiratory problems when in the bedroom as well, not stuffed up at all, but I will preface by saying I dont really have any breathing issues in other rooms the dog is allowed in either. So do not take my word on respiratory quality after purchasing. I used to have dogs as I said so somethings up now and I bought for my eyes solely, another major part of allergies and what hits me the worst. I have eye issues in the house in all other rooms if in them too long, except when spending lengthy time back in the bedroom and of course sleeping. One might think its obvious that sleep is okay even without an air purifier because you close your eyes, but if you know, you know. Without, if your eyes bother you, theyll physically hurt even when closed sometimes, all the way to wanting to scratch the daylights our of your tear ducts during the day. And then when you wake up without better air in your bedroom in this case, youll end up with puffy eyes and massive eye crust, way more than a nights sleep without exposure to the clean air. ALL GOES AWAY WITH THIS. I even have high cathedral ceilings in my bedroom. Starting at 8ft on one side with a pitch to well over 14ft in a room that is just over 300sqft. The auto mode seems effective even for the added cubic feet in the room (remember CADR rates are based on 8ft ceilings), but my wife doesnt like it when it kicks up to medium sometimes while sleeping. It does work though, the dog will literally come in and sleep on the floor at times...and wouldnt you know..Mr. Mighty mitigates her footprint in the air. Run it on high during the day and change the air over as often as possible in a bedroom when no one is in it if its too loud for you and it will be more than effective even if just permanently set to low at night instead of auto unless youve placed it in too large a room. It is too loud on high. High is like sleeping in a hotel room in a humid climate location where they let you change the thermostat temp, but the fan is ALWAYS programed to be on. If you cant deal with that kind of white noise, then do not plan on using this on high when present. It can be barely heard on low and you cant even tell its on. Medium is certainly tolerable depending on your tastes. Easy to clean pre-filter. Put a quarter over the air sensor light at night if it bothers you, its the light, not the sensor itself. Hope the HEPA filter last a long time. It should, my dog doesnt shed and I have mine sitting on a wide dresser at the end of the room across from the bed for a reference point to the distance, placement and noise factors. Perhaps if you are looking for this for a pet that sheds, especially a cat of course, then your filter may not last as long as advertised. I get a sense after all of the research that while these are good for pet allergies too, they are designed for folks that have serious environmental allergies, but this DOES work for me for the dog issue with my eyes. Hope this helps someone.
