> 3 dayEven though I downsized from 1TB to 500GB (by moving archive files off to an external drive,) I am very happy with the performance. Boot time has dropped from several minutes to 15-20 seconds. Startup times for applications and web page loading times have also dropped significantly. Cant comment on longevity yet as this was a Black Friday purchase, but I am extremely pleased with performance improvement so far.

06-06-2025I had a USB Install Drive ready to go, simply replaced the drive and included the spacer (provided in the SSD package), and followed the Apple support HD replacement instructions.. Works like a charm. . .

> 3 dayI have no idea if this SSD would improve the performance of my PC or not because the installation never got further than various attempts to clone the data from the existing sata HDD. The instructions in the packaging only point you to their recommended cloning software and a video link of the task. What it does not say is that if the cloning software tells you that the cloning process has failed it actually might not have failed at all and that it has actually cloned all the data on your old hard-drive. My first attempts at cloning using Crucials recommended Software failed multiple times so I contacted the Crucial Support Team (CST). They then said oh, yes you need to initialise the SSD before you use it. This was not in the video or instructions so how was I to know this was required? After doing this I tried to Clone again - Failed. Back to CST. errr, yes this can happen sometimes. Can you try a different cloning software - heres a link to a different website. I tried this alternative software - Failed again. Back to CST. You will need to install the SSD in your PC and then reinstall windows on to it and then transfer the files across from your old HDD, OK? Me - No, it is not OK. Crucial sell this SSD on the basis that the cloning process is simple and straight forward - In my experience it is not simple or straight forward. Now here is the real kick in the teeth. You now have a SSD that might have all your PCs data on it / or it might not. The only way of using it is to reinstall windows on your PC (assuming you have the windows product key and all your old software product keys). Anyone who have done this knows how long this takes and the hassle it causes. Your other option is to return the SSD for a refund - but all your data could be on that SSD - so do you want to risk that Data getting into the wrong hands? - How about wiping the SSD clean? - Do you trust that hitting delete will wipe out all this data for good?

> 3 dayDie erste SSD verabschiedete sich nach kurzer Zeit. Keinerlei Schreib-/Lesezugriff mehr möglich. Die Daten darauf verloren.

> 3 dayThe problem isnt the SSD.. Its the Acronis cloning software.. I ran that software 4 times and it failed after each attempt.. I tried everything I saw on the forums, etc.. I spent about 7 hours trying.. Then I came across a small blurb that, for whatever reason, the Acronis doesnt automatically resize or fit to the drive.. I was going from 1 TB HDD to 500 SSD.. In the end I went with EaseUS and was done in about 30 minutes. So far, the drive is working great. Tremendous difference for the wifes laptop..
