eMedia Piano For Dummies v2

Love it!

Purchased for my 8 yr. old. He has music lessons at school in which he is learning to read music and I wanted to expand on that basis. Setup took 1 minute and was ready to go! I walked through the chapters and they appear to have a very well thought out sequence (Chapter 1 - BLACK KEYS, using 2 and 3 row keys), Chapter 2 (WHITE KEYS). It has a virtual keyboard on the computer screen (click of the button) when want to see the virtual KB play back the lesson (it highlights the KB and the notes on in the lesson). It also has a video tutorial (click of the button) for each lesson/section/page of the chapter. I learned things in the 1st chapter that I never knew about playing the piano.

This is great if you are about 5 years old, its just the emedia version with a piano for dummies badge, I was very disapointed, it looks old and still has bugs.

This software is very recommended for those who have absolutely no idea how to start playing the the piano/keyboard. It starts with a very detailed background about position, notes and other essential information and followed by videos, recorded playbacks and other features, which are explained in the easiest possible way.

If you like stuffs that works for people that really, really, but really wanna waste time.

Do you remember when the first PC based training was launched using little video clips and audio files? Things have moved on a lot since then with a rich interactive approach being used by many providers. Unfortunately this isnt one of them and this CD (yes just a CD which comes rattling around in a large box - again just like software did in the old days) is definitely of the old school.

Nice and easy staters guide. Whilst for piano, keyboard users will find it just as useful.

Every time is open the program it always wants me to register and go through instrument setup...everyone. Now the virtual instruction part no longer is functioning correctly and there does not seem to be an answer for it. Also, now it always starts at the beginning of the entire lesson instead of remembering where I left off. And of course with my luck the return window closed 2 days ago so it was a waste of money.
