Tried this product on three different computers, with windows7. Home Premium and Pro, didnt work with either version. Worked with Vista and XP but not with windows7.

Every time is open the program it always wants me to register and go through instrument setup...everyone. Now the virtual instruction part no longer is functioning correctly and there does not seem to be an answer for it. Also, now it always starts at the beginning of the entire lesson instead of remembering where I left off. And of course with my luck the return window closed 2 days ago so it was a waste of money.

I loaded this onto my windows PC and connected an Axiom midi player keyboard via USB. The software loaded quickly and ready to be used. The only problem was there was always a millisecond delay between when I played the note on the keyboard and when the sound actually came out of the speaker. (which can be irritating when you are trying to play to a metronome) I tried the settings but just could not fix it.

This is a great little product. The lessons are great, and with the Music Theory for Dummies book, I feel like I am really making progress. Im not trying to become the next great recording artist or anything, but it is fun to learn how to create music.

The trouble with this is that it sounds horrible. One of the best things about learning piano - as opposed to say violin - is that you can make a lovely sound almost immediately. But the simpified fingerings leave out the notes that everyone remembers in say mary had a little lamb so that the tune jars on unfamilar notes and the tinny electroonic piano sounds are just horrid. I got this to suppplement learning with the suzuki method (which is wonderful) and this was so depressing by comparison. I see it could be useful as a reminder on all the technical details but the audio lets it down. AND you need a midi keyboard - walking away and trying it on the real piano will sound nicer but doesnt really work,...

For Christmas, I bought this to go along with the electronic keyboard we have. It was the smart move to do. Its very informative and it makes learning the keyboard seem like a breeze, not to mention a blast. The videos are a major plus and the program is very user friednly. It even includes showing guitar chords so anyone who plays guitar can play along. I have other titles by the For Dummies series (including Guitar for Dummies), so I knew I couldnt go wrong getting this one. The whole family is pleased with this one.

well I am not a beginner-I am a returner after 35 years so chose this as a refresher course-easy to use and very simple tunes etc to get you back in the saddle...very suitable for young children who love this learning format.

Piano for Dummies is great. It is a very good way to learn basic piano playing, the knowledge of the key and actual playing of such.....It has been a great help for me.
