This is the same one I had in camp, lasted me over 10 years until it was lost. Took me only 10 seconds to start from the first strike. Scrape a little off onto what youre trying to start, then strike it over top of it. The whistle is great, was more interested in the striker. Will be in my camping bag from now on.

I got this for my son. At the beginning we had a hard time getting it to work. Problem was that the rod comes coated for protection. Only after removing the black paint it will work. To remove it give it a few strikes with the metal tool included, to peal the paint off and reveal the rod. Once the rod is ready, it makes big long lasting sparks that are easy to use and start a fire. Great kit!

This combination fire starter and whistle set is a practical addition to a go bag, for camping, or survival kit. The starter does take some effort to set sparks and you would need some kindling but its also not dependent on any lighter fluid. The whistle is light and easy to use.

I havent personally used this product yet as it is a gift for a prepper friend of mine. But I think that a firestarter is probably one of the best essentials you can add to a bugout bag or any prepping equipment you are putting together. The package itself came quickly and was wrapped up good enough that there was no damage to the product or the box itself. My teenager loves the outdoors... hes always hiking, exploring, and spending time in the woods. He also loves building fires... this made a great gift just because. It works perfectly, is well made, and came as expected! Highly recommend!

The fire starter is a great addition to our hiking and camping bag we have put together. They dont take up too much room and easily clip onto a key ring to keep them together and handy. The whistle works great and the fire starter sparks quick and is easy to use.

Theres a fire starter in case you find yourself in need of warmth as you end up spending more time than expected in the woods. I love that the can opening tool also contains a saw blade and a map scale on one side and a ruler on the other. This is a great way to measure his catch of fish. This set is very compact it can attach to your backpack and can literally save your life in an emergency.
