Ive only just received this item so I cant report on durability or water resistance. As others have reported, the backpack straps are too limited. I am 52 with a small build. When wearing only a Tee shirt the straps barely fit. If youre looking for a functional backpack tote then I recommend the one by Osprey. update: 4 month update: The straps are too short, and annoying to use as a backpack. The fabric is stiff, and unpleasant. The laptop pocket is thin & provides little protection, even with the removable laptop padding. As a backpack/tote this was a waste of money. As a tote, it’s overpriced.

I would give this 10 stars if I could. I commute in an urban area and like that I can wrap the tote strap around my wrist for extra safety when I carry the bag by the short handles. The bag is incredibly sturdy but lightweight. I own some Fjallraven Kanken backpacks in assorted sizes and love them too but a tote is just more convenient for me to take to the office or shopping. It has side pockets that fit my phone/ an umbrella or a water bottle. This is one of my favorite purchases

I suppose the creators found a middle ground between the should strap changing to backpack strap, however, I cannot simply use the shoulder straps without having 1 hand holding them at all times. Otherwise the bag falls off. I am a tall person, and so the backpack rides really high on me. I mainly use the backpack both on my back and as a should strap. Although it’s sometimes hard to get my arms through the backpack straps. I do like the small handles. The side pockets can only hold narrow bottles of water. So for a mom on the go, trying to find a bag that holds all things kids need while also looking stylish enough to be my work purse, this will work but not perfect. But on weekends I switch to my other sports backpack because it holds my water bottles and rides lower on my back and it’s easier to get on. But it doesn’t look as nice as this bag does.

I bought it for my daughter and she loves it. Not to big, not too small, waterproof, can fit 13 notebook
