> 3 dayI used Fluval Cycle biological during a new 20 gallon tank fishless cycle. I did not have any seeding material from an established tank; I did buy two Java Ferns for my tank. I researched how to do the fastest fishless cycle, and here is how it went! :) Day 1: Dosed Fluval bacteria as bottle instructs Dosed 4 Drops per gallon Dr. Tim’s ammonia Added tiny bit of fish food Lowered water a few gallons to increase aeration Turned heater to 84 degrees Keep aquarium lights off the entire time Day 2: Dosed bacteria as instructed Ammonia: 2.0 Nitrites: 1.0 Day 3: Dosed bacteria as instructed Ammonia: 1.0-1.5 Nitrites: 2.0 Day 4: Ammonia: 1.0 Nitrites: 4.0-4.5 Day 5: Ammonia: .75-1.0 Nitrites: 5.0 Day 6: Did 80% water change (added Prime to new water) to lower level of nitrites in the water and bring the pH closer to neutral. The bacteria lives on the surfaces of the tank and in the filter. Too high of nitrites can stall the cycle. Added ammonia. Ammonia: .50 Nitrites: 5.0 Nitrates: 30 ppm pH: 8.2 Day 7: Added bacteria Ammonia: 2.0 Nitrites: 2.0 Day 8: Ammonia: 1.0 Nitrites: 1.5 Day 9: Added ammonia. Ammonia: 0 Nitrites: 2.0 Day 10: Added Ammonia Ammonia: .25 Nitrites: 2.0 Day 11: Added bacteria Added little ammonia Ammonia: 0 Nitrites: 2.0 Nitrates: 5.0 Ph: 8.0 Day 12: Ammonia: .25 Nitrites: 1.5 Did 80% water change and added ammonia and bacteria. Day 13: Added ammonia Ammonia: 0 Nitrites: 2.0 Day 14: Added ammonia Ammonia: 0 Nitrites: .25 (finally a big drop!!!!) Day 15: Added Ammonia Ammonia: 0 Nitrites: 0 Nitrates: 80 ppm Cycled!!!! Woo!!! Gradually Lower temp to 76. Do a large water change prior to adding fish.

> 3 dayI did a fish in cycle using this product. The plants, fish and tank are doing well. I did have some nitrites for three days at the beginning, but never at a high level. I tested the water daily, and was having 0 ammonia immediately and 0 nitrites within a week. I added fluval each week and each water change or when adding new fish as instructed. There are plenty of folks that do fishless cycling, but heck, who can wait when theres all those cute fish wanting to come home with you?

09-06-2025I had my 10 gal up and running for 3-4 weeks and I was dosing ammonia up to 4ppm daily which was converted into nitrites within a few hours... Nitrites however spiked and stayed that way for over a week until I added Fluval Bio Enhancer and within 24 hours the nitrites were converted into nitrates.. Everything seems to be going great. I can dose up the ammonia to 4ppm and within 24 hours everything is processed (ammonia-nitrites-nitrates).

> 3 dayOnly marginal help with cycling, also makes water cloudy for a few days.

> 3 dayI’ve tried many brands that helps cycle and establish a good bio filter etc. For freshwater, this is the best I’ve used for the money and worth it even if it costs a little more than some of the others.

> 3 dayWorks fine for water changes and when I have small ammonia spikes

> 3 dayThis is a great product. I ran out of it once and used another product that gave off a horrid sulfur smell. This is odorless and my fish do very well. When I used the other product my fish seemed to not like it either but that could have been my imagination I suppose.
