Fluval Plant 3.0 LED Planted Aquarium Lighting, 32 Watts, 24-34 Inches

I also saw this light demoed on Aquarium CoOp, and I was impressed. I am setting up a 30 gallon high tech planted tank, I decided to try this light rather than one of high priced ADA fixtures. Time will tell as to the durability but I found the app the simplist one to operate. Not sure why one reviewer was having so much trouble with it?

Arrive 4 days after placing order. Well packaged and in excellent shape. Pricey but the best led I have used. Pros High PAR value compared to other led aquarium lights. Many unlimited light options for color. Can set various light intensities, duration and cycles. Waterproof. Has app for iPhone to control led features. Cons Would be nice to have ability to set many of the light functions on the led light itself instead of having to go through iPhone all the time. Would be nice to have battery in led in case of power failure. Would be nice if manual talked about various light settings for different size tanks and plant types. Would be nice to control led through a windows computer, maybe an optional remote to set it up?

I had never thought about an artificial solar cycle until coming across this light. It allows the fish to experience sunrise and sunset conditions. The one major ding is the app. I personally am tired of the over reliance on our phones for everything, including setting up a tank for our aquatic friends. Would it have been too difficult to include a remote that offers a handful of programmed more common lighting themes for the price?

Product arrived quickly and is operating perfectly. I have not yet downloaded the app to program timer, etc...

The fixture is low profile, sleek, and just looks great! It’s very bright and lights up my planted 15g very well. The app is pretty cool. Has some great features and let’s you control pretty much everything you could need to. It’s a little pricey tho IMO...

To start, Id like to let the pictures speak for themselves. The initial picture of my 29 gallon was taken on September 1, about a week before installing this light this light when I was using a Kessill light. The second picture was taken on October 23, so roughly a month after a half. I went from wondering if I should pull out the vallisneria and try a different plant, to having to pull up new shoots of it every week because its growing so fast I have to trim constantly to keep it from taking over the tank! I was also finally able to get my dwarf hairgrass to carpet after trying unsuccessfully since June. I LOVE this light. My fish tank finally has jungle vibes, which is what I wanted. Having the ability to play with how long the lights are on and adjust the color settings is dope af, but if you dont want to mess with that the presets are cool too. Literally the only annoying thing about it is if the power gets interrupted for whatever reason, you have to reconnect to it via bluetooth for it to go through its presets correctly. I found this out the hard way by coming home to a dark fish tank because our power got interrupted over night and I didnt reset it because I didnt know i needed to. However, that little issue can be forgiven with how amazing the rest of it is. I was especially nervous when making this purchase because a 29 high is not a shallow tank, and I really wanted my dhg to carpet. This light had no problems giving robust growth even at the very bottom of the tank. If you can afford it, this light is very worth it.

Nice light and gets the job done, but only four stars because there are a few improvements that could be made without affecting the price too much. 1. The light loses its clock setting when the power goes off. They could add a $0.50 battery to fix this, like a computers motherboard. 2. Being able to export the settings to a csv xt file, edit and upload would be a nice function and would allow us to swap settings with others. Using the slider to select an exact time is tedious and typing the times into a file would be easier. The exported file could also work as a back up. 3. The less expensive Fluval Aquasky has the weather effects. I expected the same on this model but it wasnt there.

Happy with these lights overall. I bought four of the 32 watt lights for my 90 gallon / 340 liter tank (48”x18”x24”). It’s a deep tank with a cross bar, so I opted for four shorter lights vs. longer. First picture shows how I’ve configured them on the tank. My biggest issue is with the app. I love being able to control all my lights via one app. The only issue is that the the slider bar that is used to set the light schedule times in “Pro”mode is awful. I carefully slide until I get to the desired time like 09:00, then when I lift my finger it shifts to 09:02 or 08:58. It’s minor, but when setting 4 separate lights, I prefer to have them all change at the same time. I finally found a workaround by taking a screenshot of the factory light settings, then deleting and recreating the time markers. When you create a new time marker, the time can be set using a different selector tool that’s much easier to use. The good news is that once you get one light set, you can use “Save As” then export it to your other lights, so now I have all four lights on identical schedules. The “Auto” mode is much easier to configure, but only allows four times to be set while “Pro” offers 10. I like the “Pro” because it allows me to set a “low intensity” period in the middle of the day where the lights are dimmed for a while. One other thing that isn’t really an issue (just surprised me) was the size of the power supplies (see last two pictures). Based on the label, it looks like these can get pretty hot. So far, even after a full day of operation mine are just warm not actually hot, but it’s something I’ll keep an eye on.

Bought it for a planted tank. Nice functions for light control. Bright enough that I dont run it at 100% Dislikes: Needs to be reset after loss of power.

So I purchased this highly recommended light. When I received this package it was absolutely destroyed, the box was taped back together almost as if it had been run over by a truck. But happily when I opened the box all of the contents seemed totally fine and was in its correct place. As I unpacked everything carefully I noticed that the charging cables that were included did not actually fit together and therefore I could not even use the light. I am so beyond displeased with this. It is so frustrating when big companies like Fluval (who you can trust) do this… this was obviously a return and the person who returned it not only did not return the correct charger but also seemingly ran the box over with a truck before returning it. It seems like they should do a quality check on these items once they are returned and once before they are shipped out to their potential owners. Especially if it has already been opened. Also, I would love to know when I am purchasing an open box special because it should be cheaper and more importantly it should at the very least be known to the buyer.
